I was thinking about this old thread about Liseter Welsh ponies and it made me wonder if Warren’s Thoroughbreds are named after him along this same line of thought, which is that all the horses bred by a farm or breeder bear the name of that farm (or breeder.) Did the Warren’s raise Welsh ponies? Are there other horse breeds which follow this same tradition? Or does anyone know why he does this?
Daventry explains the tradition here:

Your mare could only have the Liseter prefix added if she was directly bred by Liseter ponies…which isn’t possible as the breeder has been long gone and hasn’t been around since 1988.
So, for example, if a mare owner has a TB mare and breeds to Liseter’s Joy Boy, they cannot name their foal “Liseter Buttercup”. While the resulting foal will carry the Liseter lines, only the breeder who owns that prefix can use it to name their foals. The prefix denotes who bred the foal and/or what farm bred the foal. For example, our own personal breeders prefix is “Daventry” and each foal gets called “Daventry’s” something. But if someone breeds to one of our stallions, or lets say they purchase our young colt Daventry’s Power Play and breed him to their mare - they can’t name their foal “Daventry’s” something…only I can do that! ;)[/QUOTE]
