Was Charlotte Dujardin a one hit wonder?

Imagine what it would feel like qualifying for Nationals and then discovering CDJ was in your class

17 tests on 10 horses?! My head exploded. She’s a machine!

And here I complain about memorizing 3 short tests.

Gawd, I’d love to go watch that competition. Maybe I should avail myself of those dirt cheap US-England flights that seem to be available right now.

Haha I know! And mine were 2 training and one 1st. Pretty basic stuff.

My eyes were glassing over by the time I finished Equibrits post. :stuck_out_tongue:

Crazy- amazing energy and talent!

Well, if Charlotte is a “one-hit wonder,” then I guess so is Hilda Gurney. After all, she’s never since had anything as spectacular as Keen. (Of course, she has trained many, many horses to Grand prix - including several non-WBs - and many students, but heck, one-hit wonder, amiright?) s/ (in case this isn’t recognized as sarcasm).

It’s also worth just stating the obvious that medals alone (as impressive as Charlotte’s are) don’t encompass a rider’s greatness. What Charlotte and Carl have done for the sport of dressage, in terms of popularizing it, humanizing it, and also their ethics of “letting horses be horses” in terms of how Valegro and other horses at their yard are treated can’t be quantified. Even if both of them, for whatever reason, decided to give up competing and just give clinics, educate others, and bring up green horses, they would still be great riders and representatives of the sport.

Odd that the OP seems to have disappeared. (eye roll)

too busy getting ready for a certain competition to post?

sometimes, given a spare few minutes when they’re not prepping 10 horses, great riders like to play stir the pot…(times like this I really miss the Smirky-Devil, face)

Why would anyone ask a question like that?

Sorry its a bit wiggly.

well, it’s obvious from those scores that she’s just not trying hard enough.
“garbage” riders like her give dressage a bad name

trying to figure out which body part I can give up to have garbage talent like hers that won’t then affect my timing…

I follow Charlotte on Instagram and in case anyone wants a visual of some of her newest mounts (or would like to follow her as well) here is a link:

Don’t be silly. One horse responsible for her riding and training capabilities? Do you think that she was a passenger only and that the horse did everything, every school at home, every test, and that she just sat there while the schoolmaster Valegro performed Gran Prix on his own to earn Olympic medals and world record scores?

I don’t believe that you have really put any consideration into your question. Study up just a little (it won’t take much time to answer your own question) if you are interested in dressage.

Riding and showing horses for years, then grooming and working multiple young dressage horses from dawn until dusk under the tutelage of C.Hester, your possible “one horse wonder” rider did not happen miraculously. She got the ride because she could bring out the best in the horse.[IMG2=JSON]{“data-align”:“none”,“data-size”:“full”,“src”:"https://www.chronofhorse.com/forum/core/image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAPABAP///wAAACH5BAEKAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAICRAEAOw==)

I would easily understand questions such as “Do you ever think there will be another horse like Valegro?” or “Does anyone know if Charlotte is riding any horses that show great promise?” however, the manner in which you pose your question is off putting at best.

Ah. I see I’ve wasted my time as the OP hasn’t shown any interest in their own thread.

What! No. I have watched many of her You Tube videos and see her riding several lower level horses routinely. Perhaps she doesn’t have a Grand Prix horse at this time, but I have no doubt she’ll be one of the top dressage riders on-going. These elite horses must be rarer than rare to be able to travel, compete and succeed in such a spotlight. I have tentative plans to travel to the FEI Equestrian Games in Tryon NC 2018. I almost expect to see her there. Goodness, one hit wonder no way.

This is it. There’s several postings of Charlotte and Carl riding their Grand Prix elite horses on the trail, doing cavaletti work, jumping and hacking out in the rain.
