Best lights for Wash Rack/Grooming area?
I’ve got 2 8 foot LEDs, and it’s bright as all heck in there. They’re mounted parallel to how the horse will be standing, about 4-5’ apart.
Make sure they are rated vapor tight rated.
Worked at a barn where I boarder accidentally sprayed a hot lightbulb on the side of the wash rack, lightbulb exploded.
Where did you buy? That’s what I was thinking
My husband ordered a boatload of them from Amazon, because we used them for a lot of different areas. I’ll get the exact brand off of him and let you know.
I bought mine from ProLighting and they are great. Coming up on 5 years ago.

Yes, like others said, one mounted on each side and one in the front. Also put these down the aisle
and in the stalls.
Same setup for me as @endlessclimb. I already had the fluorescent fixtures in place, so i just changed the wiring to use LED tubes. Very easy, two snips and two wire nuts to eliminate the fluorescent ballast from the fluorescent lights.
And my builder installed bright white waterproof plastic panels on the three walls. which also made a big light difference.
If you go with LED tubes, look at one and you’ll see that there is a long strip of LEDs inside and they are all facing the same direction. So LED tubes are directional, not like florescent tubes where light is emitted in all directions. For me that means light is not reflected back off the ceiling.
I just use outdoor LED floods that are rated for wet areas. I have four down one side of the wash stall and four down the other. Easy to put in and easy to maintain.
