I have a black ear bonnet, white and gray piping…and it needs a wash! How? There were no washing instructions and I assume it is cotton. Thanks!
I machine wash mine on delicate then air dry
I hand wash mine in warm water and air dry.
Perfect! I kind of figured basic washing, but they are expensive enough that I didn’t want to screw it up.
If you know the brand, you could email them and ask if their yarn is machine washable or not. If it’s a nice one from a company that mostly does fly bonnets they’ll probably have some yarn on hand & could check the exact washing directions for you.
I machine wash and dry flat.
I machine wash on delicate (cold/cold) with regular detergent and then lay them out to dry.
I have several that I cycle through on a daily basis (I actually use them for flies, not just looks ). My horse is a prolific sweater, so they get gross pretty quick. I just throw them in with the rest of my horse laundry, and air dry. Maybe if I had fancier ones I would take more care (Wash on delicate), but for the inexpensive, every day type ones, a normal wash cycle seems to be just fine.
I make custom bonnets and use 100% mercerized cotton (I know a lot of others do as well) which is actually quite durable. My recommended washing instructions is to machine wash (cold) in a garment bag and lay flat to dry. If you notice any ends peeking out after washing, you can generally just snip them.
Happy washing!
