How does one remove wasps or hornets from inside a tractor? They are under the hood, deep inside nooks and crannies, and fly out angrily if I move the seat or bang on the hood. Can’t get a direct hit with wasp spray and there are way too many of them anyway. Earlier this spring I tried moving the tractor frequently but they moved in anyway. I would like to use the tractor but have gotten stung in the past so not going to try it. I live in Tennessee so cold weather is months away. Thanks for any suggestions.
Can you go out after dark and tent it with a tarp and fumigate it with wasp spray. Maybe more than once, until they are gone.
Honestly, I’d contact a pest company to deal with that. Not worth the pain otherwise.
Other option would be a friendly neighbourhood bee keeper, or perhaps purchasing a bee suit and hat for this job. Remember to duct tape the neck/sleeves as the buggers can still crawl in. But honestly … that will probably cost the same amount as the pest guy.
I will say, I once got rid of a buried nest with water. Dragged the hose out in the evening and surreptitiously tossed it near the entrance. Put the water on low drip for 2 days and they gave up/moved without realizing I was to blame!
I would call a professional in this case.
Where I live it usually gets chilly overnight so if I am messing with them first thing in the morning they’re sluggish enough to deal with. I wear long sleeves etc.
If you can’t get to them with spray or a long stick though, seems like it’s going to need someone with better tools and protective gear.
if you have trap large enough to drape over the tractor completely a Pyrethrin Fogger
can be set up under the tractor to kill all the wasps/bugs
these can be bought at the big box stores such as Home Depot for under $20 for three count package
0.42 oz. Max Mess Free Dry Fogger, Indoor Bug Killer for Home Use (3-Count)
