Watching Rolex online?

They generally post the top couple of rides by themselves then do them all as two groups per day, like first half, second half. I believe that’s how they’ve posted them before.

A lot of the ones I’ve seen have had “quite a lot of bounce for the ounce.” LOL! Sally is hilarious!

How is the final score calculated? It always looks higher than the score from the 3 judges?

The marks shown from the 3 judges are positive percentage points. So based on the the actual mark given for each movement as compared to the best possible score (a 10 on each movement). So, for example, if a rider got a 7 on every single movement from one judge, it would show a 70% from that judge.

The overall score, in eventing dressage, is a penalty score, and at FEI events, there is a dressage multiplier of 1.5. So the average % from all three judges is turned into a penalty score by subtracting from 100, and then the penalty score is multiplies by 1.5.

Great thanks - there were some tests I missed, hoping to watch them tonight or tomorrow!

Thanks Babble!! I knew it was subtracted from 100 but I didn’t realize there was a 1.5 multiplier! That makes much more sense now

The scores seem so HIGH. 40’s and 50’s and 60’s.

At the regular events I have been to, the top scores have been in the 20’s and 30’s.

Are these judges really twice as tough as the “regular” judging? Why so many penalty points for these top riders?

How ignominius to forget your test at Rolex. It must be nerves, eh?

Also, question about the errors. I see that 3 people have “2” in the error column. Is that 2 penalty points added to their final adjusted score? Or does each judge give penalty points for that one element that was “off course”?

Lord Helpus - There is a 1.5 multiplier on the dressage score in FEI eventing. Thus, a 30 at a USEF event would be a 45 at a FEI event, a 40 at a USEF event would be a 60 at an FEI event.

I believe the scoring is quite different at FEI events than national events. Look at the results from recent events - the CICs scores are higher than the national levels.

Also, as to the errors - they’re taken OFF the total number of points awarded by the judges, before the “subtract from 100 and 1.5 multiplier” part.

sorry, Babble and I posted at the same time.

Holly Payne did a great job with her lovely little mare, Madaline. I think they will be an exciting pair to keep an eye on

What happened to? Jordan Linstedt & Tullibards Hawkwind

Jordan Linstedt & Tullibards Hawkwind in the dressage? Why was the judge talking to her?

I’m not sure … I know Sally commented that they would try to find out, but I haven’t heard yet. It was VERY cool for my daughter and I to see her riding there. She’s from our PC region and we didn’t know she was riding there so it was quite a surprise and fun to see. Very frustrating about the flying changes, I’m sure.

Thank you both for helping this Jumper person understand Eventing.

Did anyone else’s computer freak out during Boyd’s ride?

It was FINE ALL DAY. then just as he started, it started making a horrid noise, and jumping around. Could hardly see anything. VERY frustrating! Then, calm and serene.

Mine too, disappointing as I wanted to see Remington

Me, too. His hotness obviously fried all nearby electrical wires. I saw the score, though.

I have a friend who’s an official photog at Rolex. (My live feed died just as Boyd entered the arena, and it came back as soon as the next rider started. UGH!) She said he totally owned the test.

Me three (4th?) on the breakup during Boyd’s ride. Only caught snitches of it - but what we did see was fabulous. Go Boyd… he deserves it.

Excited to see the rides tomorrow, though - I have a feeling we’ll get a few lower scores with them.

Hahaha! That totally made my day! I’m stuck in a hotel at a mtg and figured it was my connection. Prob won’t get to see any more live feed, of well, best of luck to all the riders

lol Is that Remmington’s or Boyd’s hotness you’re referring to?

Both our computers here at work were doing it too. We figured that everyone across the country tuned in just to watch Boyd and Remy and the server couldn’t handle it.
