Watching the hunt, on foot.

I’m a hunter/jumper person who’d love to learn about hunting.

I’ve heard that people sometimes go watch the hunt, on foot, at certain areas where they pass or stop.

Can anyone tell me anything more about it? Does doing this have any sort of name/term?

Vague question, I know. What can I say, I’m clueless about this.

Thanks.

Some places have car followers. They tend to know the territory well and know where the hunt is likely to be seen. Some territories are great for car following, and some you only get to see the hunt leave and return. So, to answer your question, following on foot or in a car is possible, it will depend on the territory as to how much of the hunt you will actually see. If you contact your local hunt’s secretary they will let you know the best time and fixture to come and give it a try. You can look up local hunts on the MFHA web site.

Thanks so much, Jawa !

I agrees!

Jawa speaks wisely…(and she’s cute too! as a designated and officially crowned hunting princess!)
Allmost all hunts have someone who car follows. Go to a meet and ask around if you could join them in their car. What you will learn and see with them is priceless. Maybe even oughta be required practice for all foxhunting members! Great way to really see & experience a hunt! Ask lots of questions, bring some binoculars and some donuts & coffee for the driver! Guaranteed that you’ll be welcomed!!

WG,

Thanks for the compliment, and all I can say is…It takes one to know one!!
