I have found every station which will be carrying Olympic coverage, but Equestrian is not mentioned anywhere.
Does anyone know about Equestrian coverage?
I may have to increase my Dish Network package to get some weird channels…

Hopefully there will be live-streaming. The way it worked four years ago was that you could live-stream if you had cable. Somehow I suspect that my $12.95 antenna is not going to entitle me to live-streaming.
From http://www.nbcolympics.com/news/how-watch-rio-2016-olympic-games
“[h=2]How to watch the 2016 Rio Olympics online and on connected devices[/h]Powered by Playmaker Media, NBCOlympics.com and the NBC Sports app will live stream 4,500 total hours — including all Olympic competition for the third consecutive Olympics — for authenticated pay TV subscribers via TV Everywhere to desktops, mobile devices, and tablets, plus connected TVs for the first time.”
All of the Equestrian events will stream for those who have a paid relationship with a cable TV or dish provider that has NBC Sports. You’ll need your user ID and password to log in, so start looking for that now if you don’t remember it.
I expect that if USA does well in an event, it will make it to the nightly Highlights on prime time, but that’s only a guess.
Ughhh can I pay for this coverage? I’d totally be willing to shell out some money for an all access pass to NBC or who ever just for the Olympic coverage.

Same here, but I’ve been looking for that and I don’t think you can. I think you have to have cable for that month to see it in any form.
StreamhorseTV.com (business I run with a friend) has been looking for stand-alone pay streaming options from NBC and so far we can’t find any. Many people do not have a paid relationship with a cable TV company, and would be willing to pay to see all the Equestrian events. Same for fans of other sports. They’d like to see the livestream too.
This smacks of anti-trust violations. NBC’s parent company is Comcast which is a cable company. Cable is a dying industry, so this is a way to push it on the public.
I’ve thought about just giving up and getting cable for the Olympics, then canceling it after they are through. I imagine they make it all but impossible to cancel though.

They paid big bucks to acquire the broadcast rights, how do you figure it to be an antitrust violation?? They don’t have an obligation to make it available to everyone.
If you are going to watch a lot of the livestreaming, it could be worth getting cable for a month – I’ve never found it hard to cancel, although it can be a hassle to get it set up if you don’t have it at all as opposed to just needing to add a channel or a sports package.
I wish FEI TV would stream it. SO wants to order cable for football season anyway…
So… the equestrian portion is not planned to be on TV at all? I was hoping to DVR so I could watch later as I don’t want to miss anything.
Yes, they paid big bucks for the rights, but they could easily set up a subscription livestream through something like the BBC red player. But they won’t do that.
If you have a VPN, you could spoof your location and watch on British or French or German live stream broadcasting.
I’m not in an area with cable, so my only option would be to sign up with a satellite provider. I already have a DirecTV dish and box, but I don’t have the correct card for the box. In order to get DirecTV, I’d have to sign up for two years. Or so they told me. And since my only available broadband is Hughesnet, I can’t use a VPN. I could probably get broadband wireless from a wireless provider, get a VPN, and watch on BBC.
I remember trying to watch the last 2 Olympics online either on the NBC Sports website or on the App, and it being an abysmal and frustrating experience. Constant buffering, difficult to navigate and find what you want to watch, and constant crashing of my browser. Not surprisingly, the ads are the only thing reliable about the viewing experience! Between trying to watch the Olympics and the NHL playoffs online or through the app, I gave up altogether. It’s that bad.
I use my mother-in-laws Comcast login, so I guess I can’t really complain since I’m not actually paying for anything. But I WOULD pay if there was an option for online-only streaming, and for it to, you know, WORK.
In the past, I have been able to use an IP blocker to be able to watch CBC or BBC coverage online. When it works, it is much superior to the NBC coverage (both as far as speed/not buffering, and the quality of the commentary). I have used the Hola unblocker extension with Chrome with success.
Trying to download the NBC Sports app/extension is proving to be harder than I can easily do. I can download it to my cell phone, but not to my computer.
Viney, I wonder if you got Apple or Hulu TV — that is a $100 for the box, but no monthly subscription — maybe you could watch the Olympics that way.
If you can get a VPN working you might be able to tune into the Canadian feed on CBC. Last time they streamed all the events live and you could watch them after too, they even did this for Panams (with all events which were filmed).
