Does anyone know how close spectators will be able to get to watch the various general schooling and exercise rings, and maybe the warm up rings for the competition venues?
I do not know either but would love to hear about show jumping warmup watching. Good question Plumcreek!
From what I understand everything will be roped off. You might be able to see from the distance but not get too close. But that was a few weeks ago.

I remember that they have the stables all barricaded off w/ fencing around it. I am assuming they are still putting the fencing around the warm up rings, then if they let people on the road by the stabling you’ll be able to see the warm ups.
I’m just not sure how they have changed it since I was there about 2 weeks ago. I have volunteer service next sat so I will known then.
Any new news? I hope we can get close. At Blenheim last year we could hang on the warm up perimeter fence. Toddy came over and had a chat with me-it was waaay cool. I could hear the chatter between riders and their talk with their ‘good boy’ horses.
From what I’m getting via Twitter, good luck with that. Even the competitors are mentioning how tight security is. A groom just posted that if you take a horse out for a hand graze, a steward has to accompany you! :eek:

Teams are here from countries that have a high level of terrorist activities.
Much as I would love to stand ringside and watch schooling, I wil not whine about it if security keeps everyone safe. I believe this event has a higher general public awareness than Rolex, which means greater risk.
Yes we apparently took the wrong entrance to get to our booth yesterday and our vehicles searched and sniffed by dogs–we came in the entrance that was closest to the barns. I was told by one of the riders we could go see the endurance horses warm up and wouldn’t need a pass to get to their warm up area. Not sure about anywhere else yet.
This is my friend’s third WEG (reining) and she said she has never seen security this tight.
Like others said it’s better to have security tight then something happening.
From what I saw last week the schooling area is all off limits. You might be able to watch some schooling right before the horses enter the main stadium, not sure where they are barricading it off though.
Today we were able to see riders schooling near the main stadium, very nice ring, and very accessible for watching. I’m hoping it stays like that, it was great!
