We had a complete sprinkler system added to our 5.8 acre property 8 years ago but horses kept breaking down all the heads
in the pastures in spite of the contractor putting out round concrete protectors - it just got too expensive. Years ago we visited a barn that had thick rubber hoses underground with special sprinkler heads. Would appreciate any suggestions. TY
I have wild donkeys where I live, and before my yard was completely fenced they kept breaking or turning on my water valves. So what I ended up doing that was very effect is put a piece of 6" pvc pipe buried 24" in the ground filed with sand. then had the hose bib inside the pipe with a hole drilled in it. If you were using a pop up sprinkler I think the same idea would work as well, just put the head down in the pipe far enough so the horses cant get it, then use a pop head that would clear that pipe.
