This is also kinda interesting…it’s a saddle pad w/ a rain skirt built into the front. When it starts raining you unfold it over your legs.

Thanks all, Has anyone ridden in the mountain horse polar breech? They are in the Smartpak catalog. Pricey but they look pretty nice.

I have the Mountain Horse Polar Breech. Waterproof yes but designed for practically ARCTIC cold so you could not tolerate them unless it’s frigid outside…I actually never ride in them, but they are fantastic on a frigid day around the barn or I suppose if you trail ride in a blizzard

Today it was supposed to rain. Tied my trusty goretex jacket and goretex pants to my saddle pad. It spat a little but didn’t really rain. It was an awesome ride. You can’t help but have an awesome ride on an OTTB (just my opinion). Anyway hope I will find something that works we don’t want a little rain to get in the way of a fun trail ride!

I made something like this by modifying a rain poncho last year. It was OK but kinda goofy. I cut the neck to fit my waist and used duct tape to adjust. It isn’t a bad idea as it does protect the saddle. But it was real goofy.
Mukluk, I rode yesterday, and pulled my summer rain pants (I think they are made by Field and Stream. Sporting goods section at Dicks) over my flannel lined Jeans. It was about 40 out, and the rain pants made it perfect, because no wind could get thru, and when I ducked under a tree, the snow did not make my legs wet, as they usually do.
I do ride in Ski pants when its colder, but 40 degrees was just too warm for them. Maybe a combo of Ski pants, and rain pants will get you thru the winter.
Of course, I’m probably older than you, and I don’t give a darn what I look like when I ride. You might care a little more. Get black pants, they absorb the sun to help keep you warm, and isn’t black always fashionable?
