We Bought the Farm! Just a happy news thread!!!

I am so SO happy and excited! Mr. Cupcake(he thinks that’s hilarious) and I put in an offer on a farm awhile ago. The owner has accepted it! We take possession on December 1st (Merry Christmas to us).

It’s 31 beautiful, useable acres. Mostly hayfields/pasture with an old orchard and a beautiful stand of old-growth trees on the back property line. There’s an old farmhouse that needs a little updating and a lovely, historic gambrel roofed barn!

Yay! Just sharing my happy news!

Happy news indeed and happy early Merry Christmas. Best of luck with your nice farm…

Now… here’s the important part: the NAME!

Will it be…
Cupcake Acres?
Delightful Hills (see what I did there?)

How about Sundae Downs?

Glib aside, big accomplishment. Horses at home, there’s nothing better.

Terrific. Will be lots of hard work but totally worth it.

What good news, worth sharing.

Guess that we will get to see some pictures, perhaps, if we are nice?

How wonderful, now the real work begins, making it your own.

Thanks all! Extra frosting farm? Red Velvet Acres? Ha! Actually, we’re naming it after my first horse, who taught me so, so much. So, it will be Partly Cloudy Farm. Appropriate as well, for the the Pacific Northwest ??

I’ve been leasing a barn set up for a decade, so self-care won’t be anything new, but gosh, it’s going to be nice having them right out back instead of having to drive 2+ (thank you, accident prone TBs) everyday.

And yes, now the work begins! Thank god I’m handy! I’m sure I’ll be posting pics and asking for advice and experience with various set-ups!

Right, you can’t ever pick enough brains, someone, somewhere comes with just the right new idea when you ask around.

How much fun, get to do your own stuff.

I bet you are still smiling without stop.

I think ‘Partly Cloudy Farm’ has a wonderful ring to it. There is something to be said about farms named after our special horses. Keep us updated!

This is one of my favorite things on the COTH forum. It is so nice to see how happy you are and exciting to watch your progress at your new farm. I will be looking forward to your photos and to getting new ideas and learning new things from your adventure!

A heartfelt congratulations to you and Mr. Cupcake.

Congrats!!! How exciting

Congrats! Now you never, ever have a day off. But, hey, it’s worth it.Now, be really nice to all of us and post a few pics. Do NOT tell us you bought it without any pics.

Yep, bought it sight unseen with no vet check either :lol::lol:

That’s a great name! Where in WA??

Centralia/Chehalis area! And obviously the farm will be needing a burrito, so expect a PM in the future!

Congratulations!

Your smile is infectious even across the ether. Thanks for sharing your joy, and congrats.

2dogs does the Bought the Farm Happy Dance!!!:applause:

Congrats to you & Mr Cupcake :encouragement:
Love the name.
My place is named for a joke my DH used to tell that just cracked him up.

Of course you know Xmas Eve will be spent in your barn in your PJs?
I believe it’s The Law

That’s awesome and congratulations!!

So happy for you and Mr. Cupcake!

Blessings on your new home, farm and all those living there! May you have nothing but peace, good health and many happy memories!!

)O(

Yay yay yay! DH just moved into our project farm this month so I’m right there with you! Congratulations!!!

Congratulations! Your new place sounds lovely. I moved to my own farm almost a year ago and I pretty much pinch myself every day. You’re going to love having your horses at home.

Congratulations!!!
