we have foxes....

and a coyote or 20… in the area. Looking for the ivomec in the hotdog doseage… the coyote has mange ;-( but the fox has 3 wee ones in our bottom field. I haven’t seen them, but from what I’ve heard they are pretty darn cute.

I have seen them… they are ADORABLE!

 I hope you get close enough to photograph them. They are quite photogenic little critters.

We seem to have a fox also. It started to come in my cat door last night following one of my cats. There was not fur flying or anything, one cat came in, and few seconds later I heard the door pop open, and it was a fox, who saw me (and maybe heard me, ‘hey you’re a fox!’) and backed out again. It passed my other cat on the stairs and nothing happened.
So, I want it to be a healthy fox, if it’s hangin out with my girls. It looked good, what I saw of it. Is there a wormer I can put out?
Or just let it be?

You can worm the fox with a very small amount of the liquid (not paste) ivermectin. This also gets rid of mange if you do it, ?weekly for a month. You can find info on this on line if you search it. Wildlife rehabbers put out lots of info. I think you need to train your fox to take hot dogs that you throw to her when you see her. Then, you start putting ivermectin in the hot dogs. Get all of the details so you can do it correctly. Two much ivermectin can kill a dog or fox. Foxes don’t weigh very much.

Thanks, I had not thought of a rehabber for info. (and since I was just passing by the Hunting forum,)
I hope I can get a picture, but I don’t want it ‘tame’. Yep off to quiz the rehabbers.

Hello

No i have not seen them can you post any pic of that,

Me too!

My local mated red pair has cubs too! They are 2/3’rds grown I’d say. Heard loud fox barking in my front field the other day and looked out to see 2 cubs barking, running around excitedly following my black longhaired cat Midnight across the field. Mom fox was sitting nearby watching. Midnight was walking & trotting to get away from the harassing cubs but clearly wasn’t scared. I think the cubs were confused or scared or whatever. They were making a ruckus. Broad daylight. Cat came into the yard and foxes left to go hunting. Saw cubs playing king of the mountain on a log/stump. Dang that’s precious for sure!!! I’m seeing lotsa scat on the trails too. No coyotes in area right now thank god. Curious that my bassett didn’t even bark. Ignored the whole event. Although she did chase mom fox last week for a short run. Couch potato french basset is no match for a healthy fox I see!!!

I THINK, think mind you, that the ivomec dose is .5 (that’s half a CC)cc injected into meat. I don’t like hotdogs as it oozes out the needle hole after injecting. I like chicken as the skin “seals” the dose inthe muscle. No idea what the dose for a coyote would be. Mostly problematic is imho…how the heck you guarantee that it’s the fox/coyote that get s the dose and not the local other animals.
