We need some cute Kitty pics to cheer us up

Squeaky, the stray that stayed, comes in at night and goes out during the day in the cold weather.

My female cat, Snickers, is not at all friendly so he stays in the back bedroom when he’s in.

He’s learned to make a beeline for the bedroom as soon as he comes in and when he wants out he dashes for the front door when I open the bedroom door.

Rain, snow, too cold and he gets his nose out and then he’s flying backwards and runs for the warm. Lol

He’s got a cat tree back there, three beds on the bed and appreciates it in not pleasant weather.

Summer… Forget it. Can’t dynamite him inside.

I think I broke my cat.

I set up a bird feeder just outside the window to entertain her. But I don’t think “entertained” is the right word for her response … poor Marie! The birds are soooooooo close, yet so far away.

I heard her teeth chattering from across the room, but it took me a few minutes to figure out what that clicking noise was.

(She has recovered from her long day of frustration. Getting ready for a nap behind me as I type.)

I noticed the top bed/perch where Simon is giving instructions from, is leaning a bit to one side under his weight. I have two cat trees the first and biggest one is built to handle a lot of foolishness and weight. The 2nd one is a bit smaller and much cheaper…the Kittens With Mittens broke the top bed clean off the platform beneath it. Their combined weight is almost 40lbs, they get up on the top and play King of the Castle.

Beaner sat back in utter shock and disgust and told them that this is why they can’t have nice things.

It is wiggly. We need to tighten the screw.

It’s from Cat Tree King. I got it 5 years ago, on the first shipment they made to the US. It is very sturdy. The boys are 13-16 lbs at can hit it at a dead run & it doesn’t budge. It was around $300 ish back then, over $500 now

Spoiled cats! (As they should be, of course.)

Yes, my big one is quite sturdy and well built. It was the smaller one that the Kittens With Mittens broke the tube holding the bed, clean off at the base. Too many Cat Ninja moves.

We put our tree up tonight after Thanksgiving dinner. It’s Sully’s first Christmas (he was born at the end of January) so the tree is BIG EXCITE right now

As I’m posting this, I’m upstairs in bed, he’s asleep on my legs, and the tree is intact :see_no_evil: we’ll see how it survives the next month.

I’m going to try the tree undecorated for a day or two to see how it handles the new boys. Fawkes was always content to make like a present under it. Figaro and Twiggy are infinitely more curious and destructive…

My tip for maintaining an upright tree in a cat household: Get a command hook and stick it to the wall behind the tree and tie the tree to the hook.

If nothing else it gives a little time for someone to run to the rescue before the tree goes down!

Two nails, fishing line and a corner location also work to keep the tree upright. But it won’t keep your great-grandmother’s glass ornaments from being knocked to the floor and shattered by furry little paws. Ask me how I know… :worried:

When we kept the boys, all my pretty ornaments stayed packed away. I went to big lots and bought all un-breakable stuff. With strings instead of hooks.

Not nearly as pretty, but effective

That’s what I should have done, lol! My only defense was that it was my first time managing Xmas and cats as an adult…

Now I don’t even try having a tree. I content myself with a couple of fresh evergreen wreaths, plus some trimmings from my holly trees tucked around the house. (There’s quite a bit to spare—all the red tinge in the photo is berries and there are three female trees in the circle!).

That second pic would make a great holiday greeting, at least for cat peeps.

This is my fav Christmas pic of them… He ripped it off the tree shortly after.

My mostly blind cat used to love to curl up under the tree… never had to worry about her climbing it or messing with the ornaments.

What she couldn’t resist, however, was the boxes! If there was wrapping paper in them, even better to hide in.

Since Lore has arrived, we haven’t even tried a tree. :upside_down_face:
