Well, they put wee little cones on wee little kittens when they’re first spayed, should they show an interest in chewing their stitches. The V-E-T or pet supply should have the right size, and you can give him a fashionable ribbon or neckerchief. They also have the blowup donut neck-thingies, but I’ve found 99.9% of cats are far too flexible for that to dissuade them much.
They’re safe enough - if kitteh really gets into a bind, it’ll come off. My orange dude could teach a course on cone removal.
