Weaning (badly weaned) kittens from sucking on…uh…. each other?

I need some help from the Cat Gurus who raise up cats not to be total perverts.

I have two brother kittens who, if the mood strikes, will give the other a blow job. Usually it is the same cat giving vs. getting. Getter kitteh doesn’t dig it, but isn’t saying No fast enough for my rather Victorian sensibilities. On, and I have witnessed one instance of the 69 thing going on.

Ok, clearly the human version of a happy ol’ BJ is not what either cat has in mind. Rather, kittehs are jonesing for nursing on mamma and discovered some kind of fur-covered body part that seems close enough.

Besides being diligent about removing perp cat when I catch him, is there a better solution?

Sorry for the language if that offends. But heck, man, how about the reality of the situation?!? You can see why I had to post and ask for help. There are sound effects. I’m skeeved out by kittens and I haven’t fixed this problem in cats before.

Do they make kitteh pacifiers? Sucking is an instinctive need for most babies, something that is outgrown. How old are these kitties?

Are they really, er, on target for feline fellatio? I’ve had adult cats who will knead and half-heartedly suckle on a blanket, my leg, or the dog when they’re happy/relaxed/sleepy. If they’re definitely hitting the mark… I have no clue. I can only think of this Dear Prudence letter.

From what I remember from fostering it’s pretty common in kittens that were weaned too early and a lot of them in foster care are. (Just due to circumstances, not anyone or a groups fault)

If they were nursing on a nipple I remember someone putting Bitter Apple on it. I don’t think I’d recommend it for your situation though.

I’d say keep separating them. Good luck!

This happened to a rescuer friend of mine. Female kitten was nursing off of brother kitten’s boy parts. Enough that he ended up with a UTI! She separated them and has decided to bottle feed the girl once a day (they were weaned) for another week. Hoping this solves her problem and yours.

Separate them! You may have to for over a week but it will work.

Fat Edo used to to try and nurse on Tux although it never got so freaky as yours :lol:

Oh, and Edo was nursing for over 12 weeks and still tried to nurse, so it isn’t always early weaning.

My orphan bottle kitten has a small stuffed toy (one of the little cheapies from the giant bins at Petsmart) he carries around and sucks on. He’s starting to outgrow his teddy though, and is sucking less and less on the thing. He’s still kind of orally fixated, he likes to gnaw and lick my fingers (he used to suck on them too) but he’s much much less needy about it. He’s about 8 mo old now

Maybe you can redirect their attention for a while, til they outgrow the phase?

Yup, separation and a suckle toy. Sometimes they like to suckle on a blanket, sometimes a little stuffed animal or something. If they’re confused about what to do with it, maybe rub it on the brother to catch the scent? Weird…but…

I’ve bottle-fed many litters of kittens (and piglets, but that’s a story for another day!) and never seen this happen. Sure, they try to nurse on things around weaning but I’ve never seen any with this particular predisposition. Ew. And unsanitary.

It may sound funny, but it’s really not. We’ve had kittens have to be euthanized due to this. The other kittens in the litter suckled his little parts and basically shredded them. There was no way to fix what happened.

When we have sucklers, we separate them. Immediately.

I’ve seen it with my fosters and we lost one recently due to his siblings over doing it so to speak.

Thank you all for laughing with me, and especially for the “seen it, euthanized it” dire warnings about this. This is why one has the internet… to laugh and learn at the same time.

I have cracked down on the Kitty Porn ring and separated the brothers. I think Perp Boy is outgrowing his fetish. Or really, the stress of moving to my house just sent him over the edge and now he’s regaining his composure. Maybe he’s going to a 12-Step program and working on his addiction. He does seem to have more serenity.

Update and new question:

Kitteh is doing OK. I have separated him from the biggest perp of the litter.

But now, cathead is going down on himself. He’s sore back there and he thinks he can help. I have told him it won’t work. The shelter gave me some Bitter Apple and that doesn’t do it.

So new question:

Can I put Anbesol-- that liquid local anesthesia stuff for tooth pain-- on a cat’s a$$?

I will ask the shelter as well, but I wanted to gather from the largest pool of experience I could.
