I am treating with nexium and it seems to be going well. I know I have to wean off it. What has worked for you? I am treating with 3 capsules; to wean off I am thinking 5 days 2 capsules and 5 days 1 capsule…
There’s a tapering protocol in the long nexium thread.
IIRC, it’s a week at two and a week at one.

I started Nexium July and started the weaning process (2 caps/day) on Saturday and again on Sunday… I thought there was enough left in the bottle to continue the 2x/day while I was away, but there wasn’t. Long story short… when I returned home today after speaking to BO …my guy has not had any nexium M/T/W and today (4 days total). I havent seen any bad side effects but I understand the Importance of the weaning (2/day for a week and 1/day for a week)
My question is should I start back on 3/day for a few days and then start the weaning process all over again? Or just pick up where I left off at 2/day and pretend the 4 missed days didnt happen??

If you’re not seeing anything concerning, I’d just call him done. Some horses are going to be fine with coming off of it abruptly.

I have a horse that I put on the Nexium… have tried weaning him off 2x… this last time SUPER slow. Im down to one every other day and he is AWFUL. I am sooo sorry I ever gave it to him. Anyone have a horse that came off it terrible and how long did it last. I read it can take a couple months… I might die in those couple of months… 
It’s probably time to scope and see what’s actually happening in his stomach.
What symptoms are you seeing now and is that any different than what you saw that led you to treat him? How long was he treated?
