My 11 year old has the opportunity to do some western classes this show season. Are there any good consignment/FaceBook swap sites or better yet are there places that rent? I would like to find something decent but not bank busting (aren’t we all?). We kinda fell into this and I have no idea where to start… but looking at prices -used for sure:).

Yes, there are a ton of FB groups, I finally narrowed down my favorites for hunt seat. I guess I will have to weed through some of them. I was just looking for some recommendations for peoples favorites:)

What is she showing? Open shows? 4-H? Breed shows (ie AQHA)?
A well-fitted button-down shirt, jeans, hat (or helmet), boots is probably all you need. She may need chaps, which can be an expense, or a blazer for showmanship.
Often you can find clothes from older 4-Hers who have outgrown. Shirts, blazers and jeans at goodwill. Or the FB boards as mentioned.
Hat and chaps (if needed) will be your biggest expenses, if you can’t find used.

She show arabs, and would be showing this horse in pleasure and equation at breed shows, but would likely go further if qualified. She already is in hunt seat, so whats another class, right?
She is definitely of the less is more school of thought, but still likes to sparkle a bit:)
And duh, I didn’t even think of her 4-H group… we just joined and she was only able to attend the last few meetings but I know there are a couple of parents I could put feelers out with.
These guys are great, and their print catalogue is worth it’s weight in gold. 
I second Hobby Horse, lots of good info and color charts to help coordinate with your horse’s color.
I will third Hobby Horse. it has been a while since I did western, but I was never disappointed in any of their apparel. Many women on my IHSA western team had tops from Hobby Horse and loved them.
I think that Hobby Horse catalogue is what did us in on this adventure -one showed up at the house after our first show since we moved. Once the kid looked through that book we were toast:)
We have been looking at the Facebook groups for something that catches everyones eye, and hobby horse already has many circled tops if we don’t find anything used.
