WEF Equitation Championship on Now

Meanwhile, they’re almost done with the first round of the Grand Prix at WEC if anyone wants to switch over to watch the jump off there. I think there are eight clear so far.

I love it. Send the ponies home and untwist their tails.

Finally watching it. I laughed and laughed at the commentator who said that Adriana Forte’s incredibly obese horse made a “great picture”. She either needs her eyes checked or needs to learn to recognize an unhealthy horse. Was the ride lovely, yes. But Andre Dignelli knows better or one would think he does.

Candescent? “Incredibly obese”? We have very different definitions. I think we are seeing a healthy horse with a round build. I don’t see crest or fat rolls. Not speculating on BCS of a horse I’ve never put my hands on.

First side view picture I found of the horse from last week: https://images.app.goo.gl/Qv66vjeXzJX4hKL36

That horse is way too fat. Very round is just hunter speak for obese. There is absolutely no definition in that horse’s body. And you don’t need to “put your hands on” to tell. I not going to argue with you about this. You can look at a horse whose body is completely tubular (my vet’s word) and think “oh it’s just round build” as much as you like until it becomes metabolic from too much fat or lame from too much weight or any of the multiplicity of diseases caused by obesity. Obesity is just the tip of the iceberg of problems in the horse “sport”. But you are free to continue to consider obese horses “round”. IMO
