This class is going to run past my bedtime.

I wonder if the three Florida circuits coordinated this weekend with each other. WEF eq class tonight, HITS Eq class tomorrow, WEC nations cup Saturday night. Lots to watch this weekend

I feel like the WEF equitation class has usually been on Friday night in past years. But maybe they changed it and I was not paying attention.

I agree with you, I was surprised to see it scheduled for tonight.
The only big conflict is the GP at WEC happening right now. I didn’t plan ahead to bring a computer home from work for a second screen

Ava’s commentary is so good. It’s a privilege to listen to her.

I guess they’re opting not to test

They’re only pinning 5th-12th right now. Probably so the judges can decide the test and ponies who aren’t testing can go to bed.

ah ok thank you!

JJ’s actual test was very smooth, but I thought his eq was a little loose hand gallop/over fences.

I also appreciate these commentators saying what’s a real hand gallop. Half the time the riders just canter and the commentators say it’s brilliant.

He’s so soft. His riding is precise but he does lose position a bit. I’d much rather see that than precise position and lackadaisical communication with the horse.

YES! If we are all back here clucking at our laptops, somebody better be clucking at the ring. I appreciated that they said it out loud.

That’s fair!

I don’t think Olivia lost it even if she wasn’t as brilliant as JJ or Baylee. She landed the counter leads very well. I think it will be Olivia, JJ, Baylee, Adriana.

I missed half of Baylee’s test and the trot fence from Olivia owing to a difference of opinion my cat and I were having over whether it is permitted to make biscuits on the keyboard and pull the keys off, so I can’t judge it fairly. I think Adriana rides so beautifully and sympathetically but for me she lost it in the hand gallop. She rides with a lovely consistent soft hunter style and never quite seems to go for it and throw down a gauntlet.

ETA clearly I missed something from JJ too. What happened in his workoff?

It may have been the weakness/off distance to the hand gallop fence. He was only a point or so above Baylee, and 9 behind Olivia.

Yay Olivia! Baylee had a really great workoff too.

I’ll take camera angle for $500, Alex. I didn’t think it was bad, but you’re right, that’s probably it and I bet it looked different in real life.

I’m pretty sure the specs for this class require a test of the top four.

I’m a little torn between the lack of tradition involved in doing the separate awards for fifth through 12th first versus the idea of letting those horses and people wrap up a little sooner in the evening. Lol.
