Anne Kursinski and McClain Ward commentating this second round. Really great so far! https://wellingtoninternational.com/video/1750/150000-nations-cup-rd-2-presented-by-ida-development/playlist/2
The US team rounds are a bit disappointing, but will be great development and experience for these riders.
Can someone paste the link to the live scoring (I have the stream just want to see the scoring). Thanks!
Someone else may have better luck, but I can’t get it to pull up for the 2nd round
Loved seeing Berlux Z in an eggbutt happy mouth snaffle with a plain cavesson
So proud to see a young, diverse American team represent us as best they could given their experience levels (and happy that at least my motherland won! )
Thanks for the heads up! They did a great job on the commentary.
It was a rare treat to hear McLain giving his thoughts. He’s usually too busy during the big classes. Lol.
I love that he gave REAL commentary too - critical, but in a positive way that’d be helpful for anyone to learn from!
Yes! His commentary was so good! As was Anne’s
I’m hoping it will be archived… I was caught up in watching the blood bath of a class at WEC and didn’t even realize the Nations Cup was on
In the past, the feature classes were usually available on demand on the show website the following day. I don’t know if they are still doing that now.
Which class was that at WEC? I know a few people showing today.
The FEI GP tonight. Only 4 clear, a bunch with circles, big misses, near falls, actual falls, lots of poles, etc
It looks like the replay is available here.
Man the WEC classes are struggling. I know the Eq final they had recently was…. Not great. Is it course design, last minute ring changes, the rings themselves? People showing in classes they definitely shouldn’t (can’t be competitive/qualify for the WEF classes, let’s do WEC?). I’m very out of the loop so these are just questions.
I did not see the first round of that big equitation class, so I don’t know how that went. But there were about 100 in it, I believe. I don’t know the exact qualifying process for that class, but I have a feeling it’s not super restrictive. Plus it’s quite early in the show season. So I would not be surprised if there were some good rounds and some bad rounds out of those 100 trips.
For the second round of that class, which I did see, most of them looked pretty good. The part that went off the rails a bit was the test of the top four. They did have to move that class from the giant outdoor ring to one of the giant indoor rings due to the weather that day. But I don’t know if that really would’ve been much of a factor, unless there were some horses that had not shown much at all inside.
I have not been watching the jumpers at WEC very much, so I don’t have an opinion on those classes.
The rings there are all plenty big, and that main ring in front of the hotel has plenty of atmosphere to it, so that could be a lot to handle for some of the less experienced horses and riders.
