I doubt they allow camping… but you can always call and ask.

I am soooo excited to be going. Can’t wait to watch my jump trainer with his talented mare!

I wonder if they will use the original water “jump”, actually a walk/ wade through though, they did park a golf cart by the “in” getting past that was as much of a challenge as a jump:lol: My horse knew them, only as things to avoid at horse was lon before there were any restrictions:eek: on drivers:yes:

OK this might be a dumb questions but…I was looking at the ticket prices and it says something to the affect of “car passes for use to view any phase”. My question is if we come and see dressage in the morning are they going to make us leave and use another pass to come and see stadium in the evening or can we stay on the grounds in between phases? Just bring out own food, as I know there are receptions and dinners you can buy tickets for as well.

i am confused about the info on the web site too. i sent an email about somethings but have not heard back. figured i would wait a few days and then cal them.

Yes, sorry, just the Living Social deal was sold out!
Apologies for causing any confusion.

WEG trials on Sunday

I know Saturday is a full day but, gosh, one hour of cross country on Sunday? I guess I was expecting more participants. Oh, well. I still want to support the team.

When is Great Meadows going to post information??

Time lag in trials

the dressage is expected to be over by 9:30 am on Saturday. then the group course walk is at noon. then show jumping starts at 7 pm. Gosh, there are lots of time gaps.

Shopping? Group party?

What are people doing during these huge gaps?

This link should provide more detailed schedule info: http://www.greatmeadow.org/events/weg-preparator-trials/

schedule of events

I emailed and asked for the schedule since it’s not posted yet. I have found the Great Meadows office people to be extremely responsive and very customer friendly.

Schedule:

Saturday: Dressage and Stadium Jumping

7:00 AM: Gates open.

8:00 AM: Dressage begins. There are 20 competitors, so dressage should last about an hour and a half.

Noon: Cross country course walk with eventing champion, Jimmy Wofford.

5:00 PM: Gates open for show jumping phase.

7:00 PM: Show jumping phase of the WEG Prep Trials Begins. There will be 20 competitors, expect this to last between an hour and one half and two hours.

8:15-8:45 PM: Bareback puissance exhibition in arena. This will last about one hour.

9 PM: Dance party in the pavilion.

10 PM: Cash bar closes in the main tent. Dance party continues.

11 PM: Event concludes.

Sunday: Cross Country and Commencement Ceremony

8:00 AM: Gates open.

9:00 AM: Cross country begins. There are 20 competitors, expect this phase to last about one and a half to two hours.

11 AM: Presentation of Awards on Steward’s Stand

Noon: Press Conference

I’ll have to say that I am less enthused with this as time goes on. When it was first announced back in March it was said to be a WEG Selection Trial. Once they named the team it was called a WEG Prep Trial. It’s basically come down to being an exhibition fund raiser. It will be interesting to see how many horses do all three phases. I’m thinking XC will be a short list on Sunday.

When I look at the schedule I think that is a pain in the ass schedule. So dressage finishes at 9:30 AM and stadium doesn’t start until 7 PM. So being that we live about an hour and fifteen minutes away we could spend five hours traveling back and forth just on Saturday.

This feels more and more like a way for USEA to pry money out of people’s wallets.

WEG trials “lite”

I used to drive every year to Fair Hill. I am delighted that high level eventing will come to my neck of the woods. I am willing to support Great Meadows for this reason.

But…not sure what I will do during these huge gaps. I also live over an hour away. Too far to “commute” between the riding events.

Found out you will be ok coming and going if you buy the $50 pass, if you leave and re-enter on Saturday night you will need to repay if you only purchased the $30 pass.

Friend has a contact with the Va. Gold Cup. Not the same organizers as WEG. who related that it is a good idea to get there as early as you can on Saturday. There is concern over size if spectating area for dressage. Don’t know if that means all the tents or just bodies in general.

where are the horses stabled? - on grounds???
