WEG Vet check 9 horses in problems

Before the vetcheck this day at the WEG already 4 horses were withdrawn from which 2 from the Canadian Team. 5 more horses will get a re-inspection tommorrow.

I have worked a few jogs for events. I worked my first one with a very well respected VA vet. I would have spun probably 30% of the horses, it seemed that every third horse was lame. Ah, but there’s lame and then there’s LAME. Apparently, if the horse is only a little lame, they are usually let compete, because otherwise there would be many fewer horses competing, and many more angry competitors.

Many upper level horses have some issues as par for the course, and with the zero tolerance drug policy of the FEI, I’m not surprised some become LAME enough to get spun at these large competitions. How many of us would be able to compete (or do something even more strenuous to our joints, like marathon running or gymnastics) with no drugs? I’m amazed by horses every day!
