I arrive on the 22nd and am going to opening ceremonies, all four days of dressage, a bit of reining on the 28th and the last bit of endurance later that day, leaving on the 30th.
Woooot! SO excited.

Yes, I’m with you, ACME. Tethered. But luckily we have the internet.
but it does not look as we will be able to follow anything LIVE!! bummer!
Hopefully they have wifi in the stadium. I will bring my tablet.

Cool video!
I know you must be crazy stoked!
I am not going, but remember in Lex, they had restrictions on camera lenses. Same here… you better make sure you lenses will be ok…
“Cameras are permitted on all competition sites of the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games 2014 in Normandy. However, detachable zoom lenses (over 20cm) and camera tripods will not be allowed onto the competition sites.”
Now do they measure the lens alone (extended) or the camera and the lens???

Fred, I am so excited for you! Am sad you will not be there, I would have come to the eventing as well, and Aunt Esther and I would have kept your flute filled
My camera plus extended telephoto zoom lens is 22 cm and no one arrested me in Lexington in 2010.
They also didn’t really care about food. We didn’t try to bring in a complete Chinese dinner with appetizers or anything like that, but bagels and fruit in backpacks were ignored.
Ill be there working in the pavillon Aug 30-end. So come say hi
I cant wait. This will be three years in a row Ive gotten to go to France and the first time Ill have been to Normandy. Luckily my employer has scheduled two full days off so I can explore a bit. I hope to catch some of the events between my shifts

I believe they measure only the lens, not camera and lens. Mine would just pass. And no tripod for these banned long lenses…
Oh, btw, anything goes in Paris as to dress. Sneakers, shorts, burkhas, mini skirts, 8 inch heels
10 days and counting!
I head out Aug 28 - Bob Wyatt group - can’t WAIT - ! Get to Bayeux on Sept 1. Two days in Rouen prior
Weather looks ok for the next few days…

Yes but I’m going to suggest that you don’t combine all the above at one time!
Hi COTHers, we are in Caen for much of the games. For anything in the stadium D’Ornano we are in Tribune C blocks 6 & 7. We are the ones waving the big American flag when the US riders show. For anyone staying in town we are near the St. Pierre bus/tram stop, but could meet really anywhere since a lot of people are staying near the train station. We are thinking it would be fun to meet up as a group and have a COTHer drink (or two) one night. Any takers?
I’d be down for a drink and/or COTHer meet up - except I’m out in Avranches for the Endurance (volunteer training tomorrow and then volunteer for actual endurance race on Thurs). If anyone is out in Avranches/Sartilly/Mont St Michel area(s), could meet up (and would love to!) except my only drawback is I have no transportation so am relying on taxis (fingers crossed theres a shuttle/carpool thing for Endurance!).
