We have recently become the home for a very sweet weim-lab cross who is about six months old. We’ve had weims for 20+ years, and this little girl seems like a weim in a yellow fur costume. My 8 year old weim is not sure what to think of this feisty little girl. Anyone else have this cross?
Most people believe that ‘silver labs’ are labs with weims bred in at some point. (sure looks like it to me!)
I tend to thik the same thing ElisLove. I’ve only ever seen a few of them, and they are beautiful. This little girl has the body, face and eyes of weim. And the personality.
And I’d forgotten just how mouthy a puppy can be. She’s had no discernible training, so we’re starting from scratch.
Aww love those weimies. I fostered a handful of weimaraners and weim mixes a few years ago. One was a low rider, looked like weim Bassett mix… And another was one we called a weim, but body type, features and demeanor was very much Labrador (just in a silver suit). A GREAT dog… Loved him. I was hesitant to even tell them what we thought, ie “silver lab” because I didn’t want to spread that notion at all, without proof that the dog was that mix!
Just spent the afternoon on the beach with my lab and my weim. Not exactly the same as if they were rolled into one, but two great breeds!
I had one. She was full of herself, lol. I got her at 11 months with little to no training. She was a handful, but was turning out to be a pretty nice dog after about a year of hard work. I had to re-home her after my daughter was born because she snapped at the baby still miss that dog
Had one many years ago.
Still miss the idjit.
I had one too…his dad was a blue weim and mom was a lab cross (but mostly lab). Got him from a rescue as an 8 week old…he looked more weim than he did lab. Great dog for the kids, never a mean bone in his body. His only issue, for the first 5 yrs of his life, was that he would pee in submission if he though he was in trouble for anything…and even sometimes when he clearly was not in trouble…like when we would ask him if he needed to go outside (in a non-agressive way). He wasn’t very intelligent though…but what made up for that was the fact that he would never hurt a fly and could be trusted with my kids 100%. We lost him at 13 yrs old to ‘colic’
We have a 10yo dog that we guess is a lab weim cross. (We thought she was a Great Dane mix puppy when we got her- but she never grew into that). She is charcoal grey with yellow eyes- everyone asks us if she is a silver lab and she looked identical to one we ran into walking.
She is the best dog ever!
