Weird display issue?

Is anyone else having an issue with the top left corner of the screen? I have the “sign in” “register” “careers” “advertise” “subscribe” “about us” stuff all piled into the upper left hand corner, and it overlays she links at the top of the page, making them unusable for navigation (the links that are “Chronicle Forums>Technical Assistance>Help Forum” here)

This started happening last night. I am in Firefox 15.0. I get the same problem if I view the forums in IE version 9.0.8112.16421. And Chrome, too. Version 20.0.1132.57.

Screen shot here. View full screen to see issue.

And…fixed! That was fast!

I’m still seeing it. I’m running Firefox, newly updated. I also have AdBlock, which may be contributing to it.

Try refreshing. I’m running adblock, too. No issues now.

Still not working for me. I’m on Safari - both my Mac laptop and iPhone have disabled links still.

Anyone still having this issue?

Me! Still cannot login from the top of page. Can get in thru the “back door” (open a discussion, click on “post reply”, and then can type login info. from that page).

Display at top left of page is still weird looking too. (“Sign in”, “Register”, etc., etc. all piled up in a column with a little Chronicle of the Horse magazine cover, in color, under the column).

Links (at least on the page I’m on now) - “Chronicle Forums > Technical Assistance > Help Forum > Weird Display Issue” all seem to be working again though. They weren’t working for me earlier in the day.

Thanks for looking into this Mod. 1 :).

ETA:
Ooops - scratch the part about the links that were working a minute ago - not working now again.

Oh, forgot to add: the only way I can get from one discussion forum to the next is to use the “Jump Forum” menu at the bottom of page since the top links are not working.

Me too! In Firefox, latest update. It seems to be OK in Chrome. The links at the top: Chronicle Forums > Technical Assistance > Help Forum > Weird Display Issue do NOT work for me; I can only navigate using the back button.

ETA: refreshing does seem to help, at least temporarily. We’ll see if it lasts.

I am still having this issue.

I use Firefox.

When I opened the forum in IE yesterday it looked fine. Still messed up in FF.

It’s messed up again when I use Safari (MAC) but no problems with Chrome.

Thanks for the updates…submitting a support ticket with links to the threads on the issue.

Mod 1

According to the tech folk: the formatting issues are the result of some changes we made to the header on Tuesday. The fix is to have users who report it refresh their browsers to remove any caching of the site style sheets. Here are a variety of things that have worked for COTH team members who reported the same problem.

  1. Do a hard refresh (Ctrl+F5 on a PC, Command+Shift+R on a Mac)
  2. Do a general refresh using the refresh button in the browser
  3. Clear browser cache–instructions for multiple browsers can be found here: http://kb.iu.edu/data/ahic.html.
  4. Restart the browser

If you attempt the above and still have problems, please let me know.
Thanks!

Thank you! Refresh seemed to fix it!

All seems fine now!

Rather than go through all of the steps mentioned above, I just went to Google, typed in Chronicle of the Horse, went to site and clicked on Forums. Then I went and deleted my previous bookmark for the forum and added it again using the one I had just Googled.

Yay!
Everything is where it should be on the site and all links are working properly.

Thanks to the Mods and the tech team for getting the problems resolved so quickly.

You’re welcome! Glad everything is up to speed again; sorry for the inconvenience ~
