I got my cob Wellfleet this morning and I think it’s going to work. It’s a bit of a frankenbridle, size-wise, though. The cheek pieces fit around the middle holes, the noseband is all the way at the bottom (it’s a little high on her head but not horribly so), and the throatlatch is all the way at the tippy top hole. If it stretches any or if I ever want to put it on a smaller horse, I"m going to need to get the throatlatch shortened. It’s not like my mare has a particularly thick head, she’s pretty standard for a small TB mare but damn that thing is long.
I’m happy with the leather quality. There was a scrape on the noseband, on the edge of the raised part, which I wouldn’t have been happy with had I paid full price for it but for $60-some-odd bucks I could care less. I have two coats of plain neatsfoot oil on it and now you can only see the scrape if you look hard for it. It is oiling up nicely too. I’m not sure whether this’ll be my schooling bridle or show bridle, but either way I’m happy with my purchase.[/QUOTE]
This is pretty much exactly the same fit I have on my 16.2+hh OLD mare. If you had an actual “cob” I don’t think it would fit. A little bit of oil and it is as dark as can be and feeling pretty nice. For $65, I am one happy camper!
