Wellfleet bridles on sale at Smartpak
I got my cob Wellfleet this morning and I think it’s going to work. It’s a bit of a frankenbridle, size-wise, though. The cheek pieces fit around the middle holes, the noseband is all the way at the bottom (it’s a little high on her head but not horribly so), and the throatlatch is all the way at the tippy top hole. If it stretches any or if I ever want to put it on a smaller horse, I"m going to need to get the throatlatch shortened. It’s not like my mare has a particularly thick head, she’s pretty standard for a small TB mare but damn that thing is long.

I’m happy with the leather quality. There was a scrape on the noseband, on the edge of the raised part, which I wouldn’t have been happy with had I paid full price for it but for $60-some-odd bucks I could care less. I have two coats of plain neatsfoot oil on it and now you can only see the scrape if you look hard for it. It is oiling up nicely too. I’m not sure whether this’ll be my schooling bridle or show bridle, but either way I’m happy with my purchase.
This is pretty much exactly the same fit I have on my 16.2+hh OLD mare. If you had an actual “cob” I don’t think it would fit. A little bit of oil and it is as dark as can be and feeling pretty nice. For $65, I am one happy camper!

Bought the “eventer” version and I’m quite happy with it. It’s not the same reddish brown seen here. However, when I cleaned it, a lot of red-brown dye came off. Anyone had a problem with it bleeding?

I had the same experience many of you had, but I DID get a phone call saying they were canceling both of the bridles I ordered. I was on the phone with them pretty quick and they managed to find me another O/S one at least. I was out of luck on the cob. They overnighted it free of charge too. Luckily the O/S fits just fine  I am very pleased with the quality. The padding is butter soft. Some parts are a bit stiff, but nothing abnormal for a brand new bridle.

I now have a ton of O/S bridles, and maybe a Cob that I’d be willing to sell after market. If anyone is interested PM me. Otherwise they’re going back to SP.

I do like my super-sale Nantucket well enough (and have recently realized that some of the bridles I’ve admired at the barn are Wellfleets), that I decided to go ahead and buy the NWT square-raised Wellfleet I’ve been eyeing on eBay for a few months now. I didn’t get the super-sale SmartPak price, but it was significantly cheaper than the original price (and SmartPak sold out of the cob in that one a long time ago), so I think I’ll be happy.

Well, I ordered 2 bridles last Tuesday over the phone. I was told that the order was successful and that the bridles would be at my door by the end of the week.

No bridles showed up.

Smartpak says ‘Oh, we put a note on your order to look into an IT issue you mentioned, but it seems we never did, and we didn’t put the order through. Now we’re sold out of both. Sorry.’

If anyone has a Dressage bridle they don’t want, PM me  I just missed out on this deal :frowning:

goodmorning, there was one back up on smartpak earlier today – not sure what size.

My double raised dressage bridle arrived on Monday. Really happy with the leather, but the reins are something that crawled out from the very pits of Hell. I don’t usually mind webbed reins, but the nylon lining the edges is awful! They’re so stiff and uncomfortable… I’ll definitely be replacing them.

Sadly, the double raised look doesn’t suit my mare, but for schooling? Totally worth it.

My oversized bridle came in and fit my 16.3h holsteiner mare pretty well. She is over 1500lbs and has a massive block head. The only part that was a little big was the brow band. I couldn’t imagine what type of monster head would actually fit that.

Haha, my horse’s block heads

Ditto the reins. Definitely ones you cannot use without gloves, imo.

Purchased the dressage bridle last week; card was charged 8/7, said it would be here Friday 8/8… just got off the phone with customer service and “they didn’t get to you yet” but are obviously sold out. Then I got “glad you caught that”

They need a better system!

My one cob bridle fits everywhere except the noseband, which is odd b/c in edgewood he has a horse bridle with a cob noseband on it. The O/S does not fit my true o/s horse at all. I can understand why people say it is a bit big in the browband, b/c it fits my guy perfectly there, but it is on the last hole for the bit and noseband which looks a little silly. Looks like they’re all going back, so a mass of O/S bridles will start showing back up on the sp site.

Got mine a few days ago and I am pretty pleased with how it came out after oiling it. I ended up having to get the flash noseband (I needed the rubber reins!) when I normally use a figure-eight. Thankfully though, my cheap-o f8 fits in the channel and can be used with the Wellfleet bridle!

I like it for $65ish dollars. I would not be as impressed if I had bought it for the original price though.

If anyone has the cob Wellfleet that didn’t fit I would buy it from you. I think it would fit my boy. Especially at that price!

Ditto! Just bought a bridle for a horse I don’t own (yet). I figure this guarantees he fails the PPE, but couldn’t let this deal pass me by…
Nice bridle, but not sure if it was worth it since it gave him OCD  . Keeping the bridle though
