Wellington - Where to Stay

Hello - I plan to visit Wellington, FL a few times in winter 2017 to watch the weekend dressage competitions (and to escape the Midwest winter). Does anyone have any recommendations on nice places to stay for three/four day weekends when I am there? Maybe something in the Lake Worth or Boca Raton area? I am willing to drive 30 - 45 minutes to get to the show grounds. Thank you!

My friend stayed at the Hilton on Singer Island and I was SOOOOO jealous (the rest of us stayed in Wellington). You can go watch a horse show and then go back to your hotel which has its own private beach.

We did stay on Singer Island also. The hotel was nice. Paying so much for parking was not so nice. Traffic can also be terrible depending on the time of day.

Thank you for the suggestion! I had not come across that hotel, yet. I’ll look into it for sure.

Thank you for the tip on parking and traffic. I ran into the same things when I stayed in Fort Lauderdale last March - valet parking was the only parking option, and it really added up after a few days. Traffic in Fort Lauderdale was pretty heavy.

We did a VRBO. It was WAY cheaper than a hotel and way more comfortable with full kitchen, backyard, and private pool.

We stayed at the Hampton Inn by the Airport - at most a 30-min drive. Free breakfast. Clean. Nice but small pool. Pleasant staff. Reasonable rate (we booked last minute) - $20/night cheaper than a closer Hampton Inn. The drive to the show grounds was easy.

We stayed at the Brazilian Court Hotel in Palm Beach which was very nice. Great food and close to the beach and downtown as well. The drive was about 35-40 mins from the horse show.

The Breakers is about a 30 minute drive if you are looking to make a vacation out of it.

We did airbnb, an adorable house in Lake Worth. Housing was $200/ person for Thursday through Sunday so very affordable, especially with a kitchen, family room, individual bedrooms, etc. it was also nice to step out of the sterilized world of Wellington and into real life of Lake Worth. Plus, the ice cream at Kilwins made it entirely worth the drive.

What’s that hotel over by Little Ranches- The Royal Inn? If you want a bit of an adventure, you could stay there.
