Just wondering if anyone had any input on this little mares conformation. She’s a 10 year old 12.3 registered welsh. Was used as a broodmare and has had 2 foals. We will be adding her to our herd and we always appreciate others opinions and to learn through them. Thank you!
I like her shoulder a lot. Her neck ties in a little low on her chest for my purposes, but she looks to be in hunter tack and they are less picky about such things. Her neck stays thick through the throatlatch, but her head is cute, of course! And I like her legs quite a lot.
Is this picture recent? If so her back is fantastic for having 2 foals.
I like her hind end less, though she is standing out behind and might be opening up her hip a bit more than I would like to see. Her croup is steep and her back-loin-croup tie in is long and weak. If I only saw the hindquarters I would expect her to be a much more lean, sport-type horse. I like her hind legs below the stifles. If I could make her a “perfect” horse, I would stretch out her hindquarters more and shorten up her back, but she might be perfect just the way she is.
