> If you haven’t worked with Wendy before, she is an enormously gifted teacher. Wendy has a remarkable depth of knowledge about horses, riders and a real understanding of how the two can work together. What really sets Wendy apart from other good clinicians, however, is her application of the principles and techniques of the Feldenkrais Method.
>
> Feldenkrais is an educational program that teaches people news ways to move. The results of learning new patterns of movement can include pain reduction, improved physical performance and a greater sense of everyday wellbeing. In a Feldenkrais lesson, the practitioner guides the students through a series of movements. The guidance can be verbal or hands-on. As the brain processes the information received from the new movements, it recognizes those that are easier, less painful and more effective. For riders, Feldenkrais can be very useful in helping new students establish correct fundamentals from the very first ride as well as giving more experienced riders ways to recognize and replace habits and movements that are limiting their potential. In the end, a more comfortable, efficient and effective rider leads to a happier horse and a more satisfying partnership for both.
