Where can I find a western browband? My horse wears an oversize english browband. I have a lovely Circle Y softy western bridle with silver Concho at the browband but the browband is way too short.
Do you have a saddle maker close?
They can make you one, even oil it, to match your bridle.
Or they may add extensions to the one bridle you have that is too short, on both sides, simple matching loops would do.
I used to have a mule headstall where the browband had an insert in the middle with small buckles on each end so the length could be adjusted (many mules have broad foreheads). I loved that bridle. It disappeared from the tack room at the trainer’s barn. He thought I had taken it home. I had not.
But I digress.
If you really like your current bridle, a saddle maker or even a good leather worker, like the guy I know who makes various leather goods for motorcycle riders, should be able to put an insert in the center of your browband. You could even camouflage it by doing a decorative rawhide wrap or something.
www.coloradosaddlery.net They have draft tack that is not on the website.
www.rainbowsendtack.com/westernbridleparts.htm has several used ones, they give the measurements.
www.halfcircleranch.com can make anything you want.
do you want plain or fancy?
Yes to custom made for special sizing! We raise Irish Draught and Irish Sporthorses - often quite good sized horses, all our boys and a couple of the girls wear a WB or oversized bridle - 17 inch browbands are the norm here.
