Looking into getting a western saddle for dressage. Currently riding my WB mare 3rd level. What are you WD riders riding in?
I’d choose a well fitting pleasure or trail saddle. Even a reining saddle. I’d avoid cutting, roping or barrel styles .
Any well fitting western saddle will work, but like the above poster said pleasure and trail saddles are the most popular as well as reining saddles. I use a pleasure saddle with a butterfly skirt for increased contact. My mare is already super round, and a saddle with a skirt that goes under my leg makes me feel like one of those riders in the pony cartoons. I would also go with a square skirt. They look better in my opinion, and the resell on them is much better if you decide you don’t like western dressage.
