Western Saddle Carriers/bags?

Hello all!!

I am wanting to invest in a carrier/cover bag for the new saddle I will be getting in the next few weeks. I don’t have an enclosed tack room, or anything that is completely away from the elements other than my house. I have the issue of sand and top soil being blown onto my gear on a day to day basis.

I have been looking at bags, full cover zipped up ones! Personally I have found to like the looks of this one here.

I like that it has so many pockets I can store all other items like boots and bridles if needed inside, so if I needed to go somewhere with minimal space, I would have it all together ready to go.

But I can hardly find any different reviews on it, and I am curious if there are any more out there on the market I should maybe look at!

Thank you all!!

Looks nifty.

We use transparent plastic sheets to protect the saddles we don’t use much, but they are in tack rooms.

That bag seems like a very good one for what you want.

I had one similar but without the pockets. My saddle alone was heavy enough! One thing I would check is the hardware that the carrying strap is attached to. Mine came with plastic rings and clips and did not hold up to the weight (and that was just with the saddle).

I have a few. Some are Big D and some are Schneiders. They can be a bit of a pain to get the saddles into but will definitely keep them clean!

I like Schneiders (www.sstack.com) and also Smith Brothers.

Circle Y makes a nice one.

That style of saddle bag is really heavy when you use all the pockets. One of my barn mates has one of that style, and it is awkward to carry any distance with anything in the lower pockets–every step you take, your legs come in contact with them.
I have had a few Big D bags and one by Schneiders. The Big D bags are a little higher quality, but they both functioned well.

I have one of the Kensingtons for my parade saddle. Yes one of those big ol’ Rose Parade silver laden suckers. I use the top for the pads. I also use a separate bridle bag for the bridle; and another bridle bag for the tapaderos. The garment bag houses the serapes (otherwise known as “the flappy doodle things”) as well as the huge breast collar. I use a harness bag for the hip drops (otherwise known as “the butt thingie”). Now, I have multiple bags because I don’t want to scratch silver - but the saddle bag is well made - but it is heavy on its own. It will protect and you can get more in it than I did. I also use one of those rolling tack stands for when I’m storing it when not on display. Everything can get piled on there and then I can roll it around.
