Western Saddle Repair.

Looks like I may be in need of a shop that can handle replacing the fleece on the underside of a western saddle & re-stitching the horn.

I’m in SW CT… willing to travel. First thoughts went to Dan’s Frontier store in Oakville CT (used to be in Woodbury 'till he semi-retired). However his online site is ‘temporarily’ out of service.

Not sure if The Stitching Bench in Ridgefield would want to get involved with this… nor would I want to pay her prices… recently was charged $24 for replacing the chin piece on an adjustable halter. yikes.

Suggestions?

Restitching the horn is no big job. However–to refleece your saddle properly the panels need to be taken off the saddle, the old fleece removed ( can be an expensive pain if its glued on tight) and new fleece (either genuine fleece or artificial) installed. Then the panels are replaced onto your saddle. This is major surgery for your saddle so you should expect your wallet to take a hit…:eek:

Okay… so I guess this begs the question, if the hole is about 3" x 3", is it really necessary to replace the fleece?

If its is just one hole-not necessary as long as the rest of the fleece is in ok shape. A fleece patch to match the original -some good glue…shazam!
Is this a wear spot or mouse hole?
