What a Long Strange Month it Has been or "How a BB cursed my horse"

Do you think we can pool our BB resources enough to hire some large and burly Italians to bump off this Murphy character?

He’s been to my place more times than I care to remember. Apparently he feels that horses make his job so easy its like taking candy from a baby.

So I say we send him to “sleep with the fishes.”

Seriously though, glad everybody is on the mend. My pulse went up just reading it.

Glad things are working out. I can’t believe it!!! Noone on this BB talk to me when I have prospective buyers coming!!!

If an Atlanta get-together comes together, please count me in. I won’t be showing at GIHP, my greenie will be going to her 3rd horse show ever two weeks earlier at Chateau Elan (we’re not A material yet) but I’d love to come and cheer everyone on.

quote:
Where is everyone planing on staying during the Atlanta show - I have a
reservation at the Hawthorne. I know it’s a little pricey but my parents might
come up from FL. Mom doesn’t do real well at a Motel 6.

I’ll be staying…AT HOME! I only live like an hour away and it saves us money, which is alawys nice. Several people from my barn usually stay at the Hawthorn, it’s VERY nice and it’s like right around the corner from the horse park!

BEST of luck, DMK. All good luck. Happy thoughts!!!

me… comfortable galloping down to big oxers… hmmm, yes that has happened once. I believe it was while under the influence of very serious drugs after the dreaded Scooter Incident. On the other hand, I don’t recall a lot about that weekend

But by all means, if the stars and the planets are aligned, and the appropriate Gods have been appeased, these things could happen!!!

JB - let’s just say I own stock in Pepcid AC. A friend told me I was handling it very well - I told her I didn’t have time to have a mental breakdown, but I was scheduling one for April…

I read in the paper that the full moon the past few nights was the largest one in “generations.” I don’t know about you all, but I am convinced that the moon affects animals, and I’m not talking werewolves.

heidi - I do feel a tad bit more fortunate, all things considered. And I kept telling myself through this whole mess if my biggest worry was that I was missing HITS, I should consider myself quite lucky…

Won2keep - it’s OK - it’s not putting your foot in your mouth, if you didn’t know! I was kind of honored that you actually remembered that I was heading down there!

Janet, I have thought about it, and I am willing to forgive you if you would consider “adopting” my vet bill(s)…

DMK–Yikes! I am SO soryy. That sucks. I’m happy though that your one guy was feeling good enough to take a little swim. He must’ve thought that was the best day! “Man, Mom finally lets me out, I get to get wet and muddy, AND mom brings me a snack! Nothing like a private suite with a pool and room service…”

I knew it seemed to good to be true!! But I’ll take your offer of support.

I will argue that since you are a “young” person you don’t quite understand the “fear quotient” that comes with age. But you will eventually learn about it first hand.

So you will be joining us in some sort of COTH at the GIHP gathering (said in hushed voice so a certain horse doesn’t get any ideas)

It must be a HUGE relief that they found the “splinter”. I assume Robbie will make a speedy recovery. We’ll keep the candles lit just in case…

Wanna show at Atlanta in 5 weeks? My trainers convinced me to go.

TTYL

Oh my gosh, you just described my worst nightmare. It sounds like things are slowly working themselves out though! Few (wipes sweat from brow after reading that one)

Good luck on continued recovery!!!

Missed you at HITS last weekend (missed your scooter more - I think I walked at least 10 miles!) If you hurry back I’ll let you wear my TPS hat!

Wow, what a story.

A calling for those considering Major Medical insurance coverage…

you just never know…

OK - we can quietly plan a little GIHP soiree, but everybody, keep it on the hush hush… wouldn’t want Robbie to hear about the possibility of a show…

WHOA - hadn’t thought about it quite like that before, but you are right - I’m sure he thought it was a grand day out… right up until the time I marched him over to the washrack and thoroughly cleaned the wound (and him) off. As I recall, he was less than thrilled about that.

This morning he made another great escape. He made a break for it this morning and ran all around the barn for a few minutes until allowing himself to be bribed with a carrot…

[yes, please use a VERY hushed voice]

I’m picking him up tomorrow morning, so I promise more of an update…

But a BB get-together needs to be the FIRST weekend - yours truly has to head out of town the second weekend. One of those darned family commitments that somehow only manage to get scheduled on horse show weekends!

Oh my…

Not to make light of your plight, but I’m literally teary-eyed right now, I’m laughing so hard. (well, internally… I’m at work!)

I can just picture Raven swimming away across the lake…

Hope they’re both on the mend…

bring those meds with you. The AHSA hasn’t started testing the riders yet.

Actually my trainers have more faith in my mare’s sense of “self preservation” than my ability to find 8 jumps. I think one of them mentioned “you put her to every distance at 3 feet what’s 6 more inches” or words to that effect. With such a resounding endorsement how could I refuse???

Maybe leave the killer scooter at home - you don’t need to be tempting the gods anymore.

I can only say the following…Life is atest ain’t it?

quote:
You understand. So “if” I find myself at the GA horse park around the end of March perhaps we can hook up. If I venture into the 3’6" ring I will need some serious support from someone such as yourself who is comfortable galloping down to the BIG oxers.

YEAH! I’ll be at that show and I can meet all you “old fogeys”! hehe I just moved up to 3’6" so we can urge eachother (our laugh at eachother) on! LOL
