What are Ogilvy half pad covers made of?

Has anyone ever tried dyeing an Ogilvy half pad cover? I don’t want to buy a whole new one, but I’d prefer mine to be black. The main material of the cover feels like suede, but I can’t find anything online that tells me for sure what it is, and what it’s made of determines the sort of dye I use. Should I just go with suede dye and see what happens?

You could always email the company for an answer.

But if I were you I’d just buy a new cover. Seems pricey, but you can always sell your old cover. I would just hate to ruin it if the dye job goes downhill

Judging by the price, newborn baby skin bought from Planned Parenthood.

Agreed that used covers were selling quite well (and surprisingly close to retail, if they were still in good shape) about a year ago on FB groups like English Tack Trader, although I haven’t looked there recently. You might do better to sell the one you have and buy another one in black. If you don’t care about the logo and brand name, there are people on Etsy who make covers for them too at about half the cost of the real thing.

I would say it feels more like microfibre than suede

It’s called microsuede and you can get it in black from a joann/craft store for around 8-10 bucks a yard… with maybe a yard being enough for one pad.

And for whatever reason, it won’t let me edit the post. Microsuede is a polyester, so you’d have to use a poly dye or some other dye that’s successful in dyeing polyester.
