I’m older, I have a hammer toe, so I need room in the toe area, and I need arch support. I used to wear an Ariat paddock boot that was much like a tennis shoe–but I can’t find it any more (I think it’s been replaced buy the all terrain boots). I wore it all over Ireland–it was great, but pretty much shredded now. Do you have a favorite paddock boot that would be comfy to wear as well as functional? Thanks!
I love my Blundstone boots - they’re roomy, comfortable, and more attractive (IMO) than the Ariats I used to wear. I’m a year and a quarter into the pair and they still look new.
I can’t wear Blundstones - I have a high arch, and the Blundstones don’t, so the pressure across the top of my foot would make my toes go numb, then hurt.
I love the Ariat Barnyard boot. Really good arch support, and plenty of toe room. I wear them whenever I know I’m going to be on my feet all day, either standing or walking, and every day for barnwork. Recently, wore them to WEG, and last week wore them for several days of walking at the Round Top Antiques Show.
Another vote for Blundstones!
Ariat heritage RT…for round toe.
Yup, Blunnies all day every day. Unless I’m feeling the barn slippers (which are my 10 year old Ariat Pro babies). lol but I work and ride in my Blundstones to death, my most recent pair are about 5 years old and still going strong, lots of toe room in my “Chunk Sole” model.
I vote for Blundstones as well.
At first I thought I had made a mistake as there was pressure in some places and I did have a blister or two. I just used moleskin for a few days and religiously cleaned and conditioned the boots. Now they are a perfect fit and so comfortable. I wish that I had bought some years ago!
They’re leather shoes, so I shouldn’t have been surprised about the relatively short break in period. It was so worth it though! They’re awesome boots.
There are different models of Blundstone that fit differently. The Blundstone 200, which is my preference, is wider and roomier than the basic Blundstone 500. It’s also waterproof, so good for barn wear.
I get mine from this place: http://aussaver.tripod.com/id25.html
I also like Ariat Terrains. Specifically this one: https://www.ariat.com/TERRAIN_W_FOO.html?dwvar_TERRAIN__W__FOO_color=TAUPE , which comes in wide. I took these boots on a trip to the Canadian Rockies where I was hiking and trail riding and they were really comfortable. No blisters, no sore feet.
I have a history of plantar fasciiatis and need good arch support. I’ve had Ariat Terrains H2O for years. I love them. They’re waterproof, breathable, and as comfortable to ride in as to do barn chores or hike in. My current ones are the H2O Pros and they were very comfortable straight out of the box.
I have arthritic feet with nodules, have had bunion and hammertoe surgery. The Ariat heritage lace up paddock boots are amazingly comfortable! I am on my third pair now, they last 3-4 years which is pretty good considering how I mistreat them. I am sure they would last longer if I only rode in them and conditioned them more often
Thanks, everyone! Love to hear more, but I’ve got some internet sleuthing to do now.
Demidq, do y9ou have the round toe (RT) or the regular version?
Hi Notlost- I think I have the regular ones. Very surprising as I can’t wear most shoes with this shape!
Ariats are really comfortable.
