What are your favorite brands/types of rope halters? Where do you get them?
Hi, I like the Double Diamond brand. I have found them to be well-made and durable.
However, a couple of years ago I taught myself to make them and I like mine best of all. I use 1/4 " rope either medium or firm and can have the size I want. It has made me pretty critical of the “store-bought” versions. Some have odd dimensions, cheap and/or very limp rope, twists, etc. I started with Double Diamond and have a couple that are 10+ years old and still in good shape.
I second the double diamond halters. Silvertip halters are also nice, with a similar feel to the double diamond.
For thinner, ‘softer’ halter or ones with extra knots I like sunset halters. http://www.sunsethalters.com/ropehalters.php
I use those for hand-walking out on the trail.
Another vote for Double Diamond rope halters
I like Classic Equine, Clinton Anderson (Downunder Horsemanship), Gatsby, Mustang and also Double Diamond. I have a Classic Equine halter and a Mustang one also. They are really good!
Very good quality, acres of choices, fast service, and you cannot beat the prices.
I’m not too picky. I think I’ve just been using a Professional’s Choice rope halter that I got at my local tack store. It’s held up great and I like that it’s soft rope.
Double Diamond last and excellent quality and Clinton Andersons are quite nice, slightly different feel
I like Stacy Westfall’s training halter that weaver put out. I’ve had one for years that’s great.
i have the buck brannaman signature rope halter made by double diamond. i really like the feel of the rope it is made with.
