What brand of fence paint is best?

I’m going for a dark green so the typical black or brown won’t work.
Some say to stain fence instead but I don’t know.
Suggestions?
It’s just the posts & top rail only of no climb fencing.

If you want a paint that is “designed” for this kind of use. I think you will be somewhat limited in color selection. The “go to” fence paint when I was living in Lexington KY is this oil based brand.

It comes in 5 gallon buckets. Our local Tractor Supply carries it.

Ace Hardware makes a Farm & Ranch paint, $21.99 per gal., oil based, safe for livestock. I think it can be colored.

Not a paint, but I used Sherwin Williams Exterior solid house stain on my black fence. You can do whatever color you want. Some has been up in full sun now for three years with no fading or peeling. Just follow the directions closely. I buy it when there is a 40% off sale. I did back-brush to really get it into the nooks and crevices. 2 coats, no primer.

I needed a gallon during a non-sale time and bought Behr’s solid house and deck stain. They couldn’t make it dark enough. I had it tinted 3 times (and it was the right base)–even took some stain out for tint.

Stain will be a matte finish, but should hopefully last longer.

Sherwin Williams has their 40% off sale now until tuesday the 20th

an oil based stain, semi transparent. I have tried all kinds, if the wood is treated, my hubby says it needs to ‘age’ as the new wood is wet with the treatment. I used Olympic brand on a lattice panel (which I NEVER want to paint again) 3 years later, not even a flake. my neighbor keeps painting his fences black latex and the next year, they are peeling again,

Thanks everyone for the ideas.
