What breed of cat do you have?

Ours have always been proud and outstanding members of noknownbreeding, and most of them just turned up on the doorstep.

Neighbours swear there’s a sign at the end of the lane saying “suckers, we mean cat-lovers, live here. Walk-ins welcome.”

Y’all have some beautiful cats, and great stories, although I thought - jmo - there’s something particularly special about Emmy.

I have a special space in my heart for plain-and-simple tabby cats. They’re so common and prolific, yet each one is so unbelievably beautiful. A thing of beauty and a joy forever.

I already said it in another post, but if cats weren’t so prolific, they’d be incredibly valuable, for their beauty and their winsome personalities.

I have the Showsupatmybackdoorskinnyandhowling breed. I wasn’t aware I’d put up a sign outside, but they seem to find me. On the bright side, they make great indoor-only pets.

You’ve got cuties, Rudy.[/QUOTE]

LOL, I have one of those and one ShowsupatDollarStorebeggingtogetinItakeherhome. Her name is Penny…COTH named her…she was only 8 weeks and too little to be named Dollar.

Since this is a horsey forum:
Mine are all OUT “of the woods” BY “the back door!” Here’s a couple…

I grew up with 2 sable Burmese and 1 chocolate Siamese (with a kink in her tail). I’ll have to scan some old pictures - they were beautiful. But LOUD! Did I mention they were loud?

My current cat is a Petsmart special: https://fbcdn-sphotos-c-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xaf1/v/t1.0-9/2308_55825595212_53_n.jpg?oh=c205fd1d64a126eb9eea989fa477baec&oe=5511FC40&gda=1430769589_81277a70f2426d29aa83af0326b193cd

I own an American Shorthair named Lilly. While she is not a show cat (and never will be - she’s nearly 14), her father was a GCH and her mother was a CH. I decided to go with a reputable breeder and a purebred cat after my beloved mutt domestic shorthair, Lemieux, broke my heart when he lost his eleven year battle with a lifelong autoimmune disease. I started researching the healthiest cat breed out there, and the American Shorthair kept popping up! I got Lilly when I was in college, and she traveled the 600+ miles back and forth with me (via plane and car) on multiple occasions. She’s not a cuddly cat (my pound cat is much friendlier), but she’s a one person cat who discreetly follows me everywhere in the house.

Her pretty markings - American Shorthairs are commonly used in commercials and print ads because they look like “average” cats with more exotic markings.

I too have an American Shorthair -Silver Tabby. Complete with almost perfect bullseyes on each side, almost perfect neclaces and bracelets, and almost perfect buttons. She is such a sweet, sweet cat.

My first silver tabby, Walnut Hollow’s Rhapsody came from champions, but I had no interest in showing. The girl I have now, Silver Rhapsody, is not for showing either.

The first time I ever saw a silver tabby, I thought WHAT IS THAT?? The Americans have the sweet, open face, and such beautiful markings.

I love my girl!

I have a Shaded Silver Persian (Oliver), a Blue Smoke Persian (Bubba), a rescue tuxedo shorthair with LOTS of extra toes (Booker T) and a cat who was born feral in somebody’s back yard - I adopted here at 3 months (Big Fat Lucy) - she’s HUGE.

Always wanted the silver/blue ones - they must be gorgeous!

Mine are all purebred sideoftheroad/dumpedatourdriveways.

We had a big fat lucy, too!!

I have a cream spotted tabby British Shorthair named CH, PR Castlkatz Ghost Rider, but more commonly known as Puff. I do show CFA. Even though he is sired by National Winner, he isn’t the fanciest Brit out there. I’m hoping to grand him, but we will see. I will likely let him sit around in his fat state, only to show once a year in Veterans. Instead, I will likely co-own a kitten for showing. I LOVE British Shorthairs! I was looking for a retired pedigreed cat in general, and happened upon a local Brit breeder with quality cats (and quality ethics). I didn’t know anything about the breed, but as I looked it up, I thought it would be a good fit. Indeed it was! Puff is my second Brit. My first was a one show grand. She was regional winning quality, but unexpectedly passed away only a few days after my first show with her. I also tried showing my non-pedigreed cat from the shelter one weekend. That didn’t go so well, so he just stays home. (Yes, you can show any altered, non-declawed cat in the CFA!)

Now for the fun  (or why I LOVE my cat)

Puff, the Garden Gnome

Puff, the Stay Puft Marshmallow Cat

Puff, the sitting cat Seriously, he does this daily.

Puff, the Majikal Kittycorn

Puff, the official show cat portrait

Angelina, the beautiful

As a side note to DoubleClick and Dispatcher, I love American Shorthairs! Those silver tabbies are stunning. And oliverreed, smokes are one of my favorite persian colors. Pics please!

Rudy, I would definitely give showing a try. Please let me know if you have any questions about showing!

I have two Bengal terrors and two pound kitties. The Bengals are brothers, one spotted one marble. Both silver. Bought in a moment of weakness when one of my awesome cats died way too young.

One orange tabby female and one tortie female round out the rest.

We’ve got Barn Kitties. Calico, black and white, and a big grey polydactyl that the other cats don’t seem to recognize as a cat for some reason. She’s an odd one.
My daughter has a back and white Norwegian Forest
Cat that was rescued from a house fire ( the owner perished) and he was renamed “Smoky”. He’s very cool.

Katekat I think my polydactyl is part or all bengal.

I always thought a cat was a cat, until I met my first Siamese. Or, as I explain to visitors, --yes, I breed dogs. I don’t breed cats, I just happen to have purebred ones via rescue. Right now, it’s one from Siamese rescue who lives in my office. Told them to give us one of the tough to place ones. Lurch is king of my office.

Mr. Belvedere came from the local shelter–a friend dropped off a donation and saw him. He was a full adult and bald. Baldness resolved with proper diet.

Jeeves was brought in to the practice I worked at. He was a stray hanging around a client’s daycare. She called to see if we knew anybody who would like a Snowshoe. He was mine before he even came through the front door.

So, all are Snowshoe/Siamese with similar personalities. Tough part is that they’re all middle aged. I’ll need to add a youngster soon. We’ll just wait for Siamese rescue to send one. Or, maybe a senior citizen in need.

Lurch

ooohhhhh—I just wanta hold him!

I have two sphynx too. Though they’re spayed females. Scarlett No-Haira and Lucille Bald.

I too, have the “just showed up” variety. Except for my 2 youngest which were from a litter my sisters cat had. Prior to them I had a Russian Blue. What a sweet cat. All I know about the ones I have now is there is Siamese in there somewhere.
