What can you tell me about Southern Halo? temperament question

I am looking at a gelding for a possible low level sporthorse/everyday Joe mount. His sire is More than Ready by Southern Halo out of Woodmans Girl by Woodman: his dam is by Unbridled’s Song by Unbridled and out of Pennys Fortune by Storm Cat.

I don’t know anything about these lines, really. I don’t care about the race record (I know Unbridled was a Derby winner); I just want to know what these horses “generally” tend to be like.

This gelding only raced 3 times - last one being the beginning of his 3 y/o year and that was that. He never broke maiden and apparently showed no interest whatsoever.

I’ve been told by the seller that he’s pretty quiet, takes new things in stride and thoughtfully, has an honest spook (isn’t dirty). He’s on the smaller side which is what I’m looking for.

Thanks!

I have a 21 year old Argentina bred gelding BY Southern Halo. I got him off the track @ 8.
He is… Special…
Most honest horse I have known. Tons of heart.
But, he comes with his own set of rules.
Don’t hose him off with water that is too cold-he will bite
Don’t brush his flanks with a hard brush-he will kick
Don’t pull his mane without a box of sugar cubes-he blows through drugs FYI
Don’t escalate arguments with him-he will defend himself.
But, as I said he’s very honest-not scared of anything.
And he’s a sweetie in his own way.
I would buy him again.

I knew More Than Ready on the track and at the stud farm. He was extremely intelligent and easy to work with. Great work ethic on the track and would occaisonally do a midnight breeding (so 4x/day), I think the only horse we ever did that with. Extremely athletic and “cat like”, I think his progeny would make great sport horses.
