What color saddle pad do you use on a white grey ? Any pics to share?

What colors do you use? i wanna see your pretty white/grey ponies please  with white/grey mane and tail too

my white/grey has some bronze flecks on him so I’m leaning towards bronze/metallic brown/taupe… but would really like to see pics if you have them.

colors? shades? metallic?

For showing? Per the rule book, pad must be “conservative color.” I’d use white. Or if you feel that makes your horse look dirty, a cream or very light gray. I would not show in any of the colors you listed, even black would be preferable.

I show my gray mare in a black pad because I think white just doesn’t look nice on grays. When I event, I use black for the dressage and stadium phases and purple for the cross country phase.

For schooling, I use mostly black pads because I use Back on Track pads and they come in black or white!

white would literally blend right into him… trend setter with smoky olive green? maybe a champagne color? shiny and light colored, pretty conservative i’d think

I have a grey. He’s showing small tour and progressing nicely. I season in Wellington and always show in a white pad. I train with a with a BNT, and for lessons I always use a white saddle pad and white polos. My horse always looks lovely. Sometimes I think people focus too much on what they are wearing, what their horse is wearing, etc. Keeping things simple and traditional is in my opinion, truly the best way to go.

Or navy! Smartpak even has the 2 pack in navy. I’m pretty sure I saw red once, but not sure who carries it.

I would not do anything shiny.

I’ve got 2 that I show. One is Lipizzaner white with brown tack – he goes in a navy pad with a brown border. The other is flea bitten grey with a still black mane and tail. He has black tack. He goes in a navy pad with a silver border. I wear a navy coat on both. The borders on the pads are very conservative and not flashy.

That does not sound appropriate or professional!

My horse is mostly white-gray but still has some silvery hair.

Before people were getting more ‘out there’ with the colors, I used to use black with silver cord.
I have also used navy with silver cord, with navy coat.

Now I mostly show in a purple coat with a gray Oglivy baby pad that has purple piping. I get nothing but compliments on that ensemble.

The PRE that I show is completely milk white. I show in black or navy with a white and purple trim. His brow band is pearls, black and purple crystals
i wear a black or navy coat, black tack.

Waaaaait a minute. It’s legal to show in a colored pad as long as it’s “conservative”? I always thought it had to be just plain white or black! I’ve been dying to show in a dark green pad…

I would say no metallics unless it is in the piping. I have found that as long as it looks classy and professional, you can get away with just about everything. Make sure it doesn’t take away from the ride itself. Your skill should shine, not your tack!

Black or Navy. Navy only if it matches your helmet and jacket.

Grey horse in white saddle pad at CDI 3* in Spain. Horse looks great to me.

Another grey in a white saddle pad at another CDI3*.

I have never had one judge comment on a white saddle pad on my grey. Again, I show in Wellington at Global during season.

Thru 4th level I showed my Lusitano in a black pad, white piping. When I moved to PSG I was convinced to go the traditional route. But my white pad has black edging, so separates the white from the almost white…See pic on the left.

We school in navy, or the gray/blue colors that Roma makes

Great pics! Thanks!

On my first gray horse, I always used black, for the reason Silverbridge wrote - I had heard that comment. On my current gray horse, I don’t know yet! My daughter’s flea-bitten gray looked wonderful in purple. Silverbridge, I LOVE that berry/maroon color.

Black or dark grey - see profile pic.
