What do the harness horses bring?

DHHs being labeled Gelders…
I’m not shy about my TP’s pedigree. :)
Renae - interesting! So maybe some of these Gelders that we see in competition are DHHs? (TP)

DressageDiosa - good for you for being proud of your TP.

Either way - it sounds like it is splitting hairs as they do come from the same stock and have alot of shared blood.

Still - I would think that the essence of distinction is “BUILT FOR DRIVING” versus “BUILT FOR RIDING” versus “FOUNDATION OLD TYPE”

To the OPs question - sounds like there are some desireable traits in the Gelderlanders and Dutch Harness Horses for RIDDEN dressage.

Old Type Warmbloods…

Regarding the old-type Gelderlander being lost…

Check out this thread on COTH regarding the International Heavy Warmblood Registry, founded to save the old, classic lines

Post #7 explains it:

This horse reminds me of that “old fashioned” Gelderlander

Though this horse is registered as an Osto-Friesen/Alt-Oldenberger…he reminds me of what the old-type Gelderlander looks like.

To the person who had those old-type Gelders…does he remind you of them? (he’s for sale, too)

Oh, I love him!

I was looking at the photos of him and my husband wandered by and said “Wow, he has…big stuff going on, too bad he’s not a mare. Isn’t that what you are looking for?”. Bless his heart!

Does anyone know how to contact the owners of the Gelderlander.com website? I have tried their contact emails and do not get a response. The photo they are using on their webpage (and linked here) is mine and they have taken it without my permission. I would like them to at LEAST give photo credit to me for use of my Copyrighted image. I think it is really crappy for a commercial website to use someone’s work without any consideration what so ever.
