What do you use to mount a GoPro to your helmet?

Looking for a last minute gift for my daughter. I have a GoPro camera and she wants to wear it on her helmet when she goes XC. There were lots of options when I searched for “GoPro helmet mount” on Amazon but I can’t figure out what works best for a riding helmet. Any suggestions?

I use on of the removable stretchy bands that goes on your helmet. That way I only look like a dork when I’m using the go pro then the band comes off. Mine is GoPro branded. With it properly adjusted and my helmet cover band over it there’s been no issue with it moving.

This is the one I use. I’ve worn it many times on xc courses and it stays on well. It is also removable, unlike others that you have to have a whole different helmet when you want to use it. Also, I’ve heard in some areas the other kind is illegal because they can twist your neck if you land incorrectly when you fall.

We use the same as above. We have the GoPro brand and have had zero issues. The only time it has moved is when my daughter took a tumble off her horse and it came off that one time.

I’ve worn a helmet cam a couple times and I used the elastic straps, reinforced with the helmet cover rubber band. Make sure her helmet fits very snugly. If the helmet is just a little loose, it can wobble and bounce with the added weight of a helmet cam. It makes for a very shaky video, as the helmet cam bobs down with every gallop stride. (Of course you should have a properly fitted helmet at all times…but I used an older helmet that the padding was a bit compressed-- it never slipped down into my eyes, and it would wiggle the skin on my forehead properly, but I needed a new, tight-fitting helmet to get a smooth video from the helmet cam.)

I used the same elastic strap set up a couple of other posters have mentioned. I use it during fox hunts and will second that a VERY will fitting helmet is a necessity as if the padding has compressed even a little the video will be seriously nausea inducing no matter how quietly the rider is sitting. It stays in place very well, even for hours at a time.

I like that it isn’t screwed into or firmly mounted to the helmet. A friend wearing one fell off, and the GoPro/helmet strap just slid right off when she landed and hit her head. She was fine and so was the GoPro

I use a strap on one helmet and used a stick on mount on the other. I haven’t had any trouble cross country or on trail. I have the smallest go-pro.

I got this kit which has 55 mounts gadgets and parts and only costs $28. I love it!
