What does an 80.20 dressage test look like?

Seeing as I don’t have paid (live) TV and free TV here only shows NZ riders, and delayed … and the reviews of Expat Shield have put me off downloading it.

The last placed eventing riders scored around 20-30%:
Andrei Korshunov (Russia) - 80.20
Serguei Fofanoff (Brazil) - 72.00
Alexander Peternell (South Africa) - 70.40

Did anyone see their tests? What happened? Horse meltdown vs not up to standard vs … ? Could they not do the movements, or just not do them very well? It doesn’t seem like an anomaly as the scores decrease steadily and there’s plenty of riders in the 60s (40%s) too, I’m just curious.

I didn’t see a full meltdown, but I saw at least one of these rides, and I couldn’t tell if the horse was just not feeling dressage that day or if the pair was just a little over their heads. The one I saw the horse was just not on the bit at all, and wanted to be inverted on every movement etc. Not straight etc so not so much errors but just going to get low scores on each movement.

Really nasty ugly tests. Shouldn’t have been there.

I saw the Russian one, not sure about the others. This one was as whbar said, above the bit in almost everything, rider had hands down low trying to get the head down. It just looked very out of place.
I can’t imagine them having an accurate or successful xc round tomorrow, but who knows.

These scores include the 1.5 multiplier, correct? So a score of 80 doesn’t really equate to 20%… more like 45%. A score over 100 isn’t unheard of.

I saw the Russian one yesterday up-close and had to look away after a while. I’ve seen much better Area VII Novice tests :frowning: Upside down the whole time and the rider didn’t seem to know what to do about it other than lower his hands, which didn’t work any better by the end of the test as it had in the start. IMO, the horse didn’t look very conditioned through its neck like a horse that is used to carrying itself in a proper frame. But, I could be wrong and it might have just not been their day.

Agreed about tomorrow, but without knowing them better as a pair you can never really tell off one ride if they are in over their heads or just having a bad day or maybe even a little of both.

The eventing dressage tests have not been going well. I saw one that I really liked but for the most part was pretty disappointed.

According to the FEI, he’s a Russian Budenny horse. Breeding is Fart x Bissa x Block. He’s a lovely horse but seemed almost untrained.

I’ve had ExPat Shield for about xix weeks. Equibrit first told us about it for Royal Ascot and I wanted to see Black Caviar’s race–and Frankel’s.

I never install toolbars for anything. So I’ve never had any problem at all with the program. No ads, either through Firefox OR Comodo Dragon, which is a Chrome clone without Google. It works really well for me, is clean as a whistle, and hasn’t affected any of the rest of my internet or computer experience that I can tell.

Really, do try it. Just don’t install the toolbar and use it with Chrome and an adblocker. If you don’t like it you can always uninstall it. (I have a special complete uninstall program that I use to make sure that programs really ARE gone.)

Well hopefully in living up to his sire’s name, he will have a bit more forward momentum

Can anyone supply me with a direct link to this test? I can’t seem to be able to get Day 1 Dressage to replay on the NBC feed and you all have peeked my curiosity!

Hmmm, okay. I might just give it a go. That sounds kind of convincing. I use Chrome anyway.

What adblocker and uninstaller do you use?

I am sorry, I do not have the feed. Also, I’m sorry to be a b*tch and I hope you’re one of those people who would rather know than not - it’s “piqued” :).

I did not see the tests in question, but c’mon folks, give these riders a break. They all had to qualify to get there. Maybe they’re just having a bad day. Can every one of you who is so critical say you’ve never had one? I bet the pressure of being at the Olympics is mind blowing.

I saw the Russian horse’s test too, and his head was in the air the whole time. It was tough to watch. I actually saw his xc round this morning, and he made it through! X country was definitely more of a strength for him.
