What does "banned" mean?

No we are not supposed to talk about a banned poster. was VERY GLAD to have that info since I had no knowledge…
I think there is a big difference is abusive/gee aren’t they awful posts vs informational posts (ie- did you know so and so is banned?).

I will possibly start posting again in the DF, we’ll see how it goes.

Go ahead, you started it great already by accusing me and a banned poster of lying…

No, Manni is not talking about anyone who was the topic of this thread and yes, is just trying to stir up trouble for someone without actually reporting them I guess? Otherwise posing the question here makes no sense at all. And for the record, nobody insulted the banned poster she referring to by calling them a “witch.” In response to the banning of a particularly vile and toublesome poster, somebody said “Ding dong the witch is dead.” Cultural reference, yes. Insult? No. And now there’s a whole page of arguing about it.

But I would still like to know whether “banned” means that Boardrules, like being polite to each other don’t apply anymore.

Keep conversations productive, on topic and civil.
Discussion and disagreement are inevitable and encouraged; personal insults, diatribes and sniping comments are unproductive and unacceptable. Whether a subject is light-hearted or serious, keep posts focused on the current topic and of general interest to other participants of that thread. Utilize the private message feature or personal email where appropriate to address side topics or personal issues not related to the topic at large.

We don’t have to be polite. Or “nice.” The terms of service requires that we be productive, on topic and civil.

Manni’s posts in this thread fail two out of the three criteria, but apparently, no one’s reporting them.

As far as personal insults go, I did say, and will own up to saying, that a banned post was “not a terribly balanced individual”, based on their other social media postings. Not a personal insult, because the person wasn’t identified. And in fact, was misidentified because the whole thread very deliberately avoided naming names. Not a personal insult because the poster had been banned and won’t be able to read what was posted. “Not a terribly balanced individual?” If you consider that an insult, I assure you, you have led an exemplary and very sheltered life.

If I actually decide to deliver an insult (unlikely, but I’m warming up to the idea) there will be nothing vague or mild about it, and NO ONE will be in any doubt that my intent was to deliver an insult.

Great now I know that its kind and friendly if somebody says “ding dong the witch is dead” and its not an insult in any way. Ok I will remember that.

Good Lord Manni, do you ever give it a rest? If ever anyone should be banned it was him.

If people would choose not to be mean, then there would be no reason for me to respond to this. And I am sorry I liked Csaper, I think she was a nice and intelligent person. To read “Ding Dong the witch is dead” in connection with her made me sad :frowning:

I’ve been away from COTH for a while and came back to do some reading. There is an awful lot of unproductive thread derailing and fight picking going on and I really cannot understand it. Not sure what that poster is getting out of it (or why it’s being tolerated?).

If the other one is the user I think you’re talking about (starts with cs) then she’s a woman. I remember being gently corrected by her a few years back when I referred to her as a man. Oops. The username just seemed masculine to me.

Anybody who thinks the banned poster in question was “nice”'must not have read many of his/her posts, and certainly not the thread that resulted in him/her being banned. Strange that a poster who gets so wound up about people being “mean” would support someone like this. It seems sometimes people like to be contrary for the sole purpose of having an argument. It’s like a Monty Python movie
