What fits like the FITS Beka or Kate breeches?

I post this question every 2 or 3 years and the answer has consistently been “nothing,” so I’m hoping this is the year I’m surprised.

I love the FITS Beka and Kate knee patch breeches for the lightweight, breathable, durable fabric, the medium rise, the waistband that stays where it’s put, and the sock leg.

Since they are so long out of stock that they now cannot be found on eBay, what else might I like to try?

(Ariat- had issues with the durability. Tailored Sportsman- pretty colors, just don’t fit, the combination of the rise and the cut through the hip doesn’t work for me. Piper- too straight through the hip, perpetually slide down.)

I loved, loved, loved Beka breeches. I have found Struck breeches to be a great fit for me. They are stupid expensive, but my lord, so comfortable! Fabric is lighter than the Bekas but covers nicely. Not totally sold on the silicone knee patches, but the rise is perfect, hip is great, the rubberized logo inside the wide waistband keeps shirts tucked in. For reference, I am a L or XL in Bekas, and the 34 in Struck are a tad roomy but the 32 were a tad snug (where, oh where, is the elusive 33 or size 13??).

Wow- you weren’t kidding. Those are beautifully cut and have such an attractive color range. And stupid expensive is the right word!

Oh, but Renn-- go try them on somewhere! I had to kit myself out for hunters after a sojourn in the jumpers and time off to repair my foot (non-horse related), so I hit the local tack store. I got handed a pile of breeches, seriously like 12 different brands, and commenced to try all of them. I am 52, a size 12ish, and let me tell you-- no brands fit the same. Not one. But when I put those Strucks on…bliss! I hemmed and hawed, but in the end, comfort one out over $$. I do wear them for lessons as I figure ride in what you show so you are comfortable.

I do have some RJs that work pretty well too, but the fabric is slippery. I like the Ovation Slim Secret breeches, but the fabric is a bit heavy for summer wear. Fit is similar to the FITs styles though.

I am not going to try them on, because I am absolutely certain I would like them.

I have a 25-year-old horse. We trail ride and hack out in the field and jump the Puissance des 2’ when we’re really feeling wild. I do not need $300 breeches to do any of that.

What is the RJ model you have? I used to have a pair of those I liked, back when puke green was in.

Ah…well, that does put a different spin on your breeches needs! The RJs are the Gulf model.

I feel your pain. Beka breeches were so absolutely perfect for me (and my big butt+quads) that I would get a pair every time VTO ran their 20% off sale. I ended up with so many that I still have one totally unworn pair that I may just have to frame at this point it is so sacred. I did find a barely-worn pair last year on Poshmark, so it’s worth searching every once in a while to see if something pops up from the depths of a closet.

Calvincrowe, I had never even heard of the Struck breeches until I stumbled across this thread yesterday. They have the 50 series whites on sale for $99 so I ordered a pair and it arrived today. Color me impressed with their free shipping. Anyway, I’m a medium in FITS, so ordered a 30 and they are perfect. Very comfortable and insanely flattering for white breeches! I can’t wait to ride in them!

@Scaramouch I’ve been keeping an eye on resale sites. If anyone takes a small there are 3 pairs on Poshmark and a new pair of Bekas on Mercari right now.

See! I was blown away when I put the Struck breeches on at the tack store. I love riding in them, too. I need to sell my Bekas-- I have deluded myself into thinking I’ll fit back in them ‘someday’…damn you middle age! I think I have three pairs of tan large breeches just sitting in a drawer…sigh…if only I was still as fit and shaped differently!

Sorry to hijack a thread! But I’ve found a couple medium FITS breeches on resale sites. How do the medium FITS fit? I’m probably a 31-32 in breeches, but wondering if the mediums are close enough they could stretch and not make me look like a complete whale…
