We had no rain most of the summer, so it was dew on tall grass. This horse has every little scratch or fly bite turn into a disaster in the summer. (And yes, she gets fed flax, zinc and copper.) She probably needs to live in a stall in the summer and she has 24/7 access to her stall. If I locked her in, we would both be insane. I should have checked her better. I had no idea the legging would rub a sore because the Shoo Flys never did. Just something to be aware of.
Just received the Jeffers romper stomper fly boots. I have always used shoo-fly and have been happy with them, but the Jeffers seem to to be comparable in terms of quality, haven’t put them on a horse yet, but a $24 savings is significant far as I’m concerned.
Just got the Jeffers fly boots. Look very comparable to shoo-fly and a $24 savings! Thanks for the tip!!
Happy to help. Hopefully they hold up!
Feronia destroyed her Stomp Stoppers after 2(?) summers, and now has new H&H boots. I ordered Warrior boots at the same time, but they did not fit her. The H&H boots are cheap, but I really only need them to survive 6 to 8 weeks, and I couldn’t fiddle around with trying and returning a bunch of stuff, because the last 2 surviving Stomp Stoppers were going to fail at any moment.
One advantage: she is keeping all 4 of the H&H boots on. She’s never been a fan of “stuff” on her hindlegs, and this summer decided that her RH, her most sensitive leg, needed to be bootless. Eventually she decided the same about her LH, and destroyed the Velcro on the old Stomp Stopper in the process of removing it from her leg.
