What girths are you using for your monoflap saddles?

I’m new to the monoflap world - and love it very very much! I’m currently just using an old neoprene dressage girth, which is fine, but which is black and my saddle is brown and my nitpicky tendencies scream every time I put the two together.

Snooping around online I’ve found the m. toulouse monoflap girth (along with many horror stories about it), and a few ovation options. Any other favourites out there?

In an ideal world, this girth would be a havana-y brown. I’d also love a sheepskin or fleece lined option for the girthy princess pony, but not necessary.

Wintec will make the dressage girth in brown. I have two.

Shoulder relief girth…

I have a thinline brown short girth. It wasn’t that expensive but I don’t remember where I got it.

Based on Bornfreenowexpensive’s recommendation, I bought the Voltaire and it is perfect.

I have been using the Nunn Finer Passage girth (havana brown) for 4 years now. It still looks brand new and has seemed well tolerated on every horse that’s used it.

I also was using the Nunn Finer Passage girth for a while (in havana brown). Unfortunately it’s too long for my guy, so I switched to the professional choice dressage girth (comes in black and brown). Since I use a breast plate, and my horse doesn’t like the breast plate looped over the girth, I needed a ring attachment. Professional choice has an attachable D-ring that you can velcro to the girth (also comes in black and brown) in between the bottom neoprene and top cloth layer. This configuration has been working out well and I use the girth for both my monoflap jumping saddle and dressage saddle.

The Voltaire girths are nice, but you MUST clean and condition them or they get gross in a hurry with all the extra (unnecessary, IMO) stitching. I worked for a lady who had one that had started to crack after only a \year of use, and another had a billet holder rip off. For the money I had expected better.

The Nunn Finer girths are really nice. Cushy and hold up well.

I bought a Total Shoulder Relief girth for my dressage saddle and I’m not overly impressed. It’s not as padded as I was hoping for and seems a bit cheap. I clean and condition it regularly and it hasn’t really softened with use. It does look nice and my horse seems to like it.

For jumping I use a Professional’s Choice VenTech girth (brown). I love it, my horse goes well in it, and it’s easy to clean and care for and they’re not overly expensive. I’ve toyed with the idea of getting a contour girth but I really see no need. They have

I really like the Nunn Finer on pictured above. And… 20% off today on Cyber Monday!

Ovation makes a brown synthetic girth. Great and cheap!!

I have both a Nunn Finer Passage girth and a TSF Shoulder Relief Girth, and much prefer the Nunn Finer. It is well padded, easy to clean, and is just overall better quality…I’ve had it for several years and it still looks and feels great. I’m not in love with the TSF…one of the billet keepers above the buckle came undone, and this is the second one where the brown color is wearing off, despite excellent care and limited use.

I’ve got a couple of the Wintec girths that I use occasionally (maybe riding in sloppy conditions, etc), and they work well for that purpose, but I don’t like them for daily use because they are so narrow and don’t seem like they would distribute pressure as well as a wider girth. But they certainly are durable and easy to clean.

I second this- awesome girth, comfy for the horse and easy to get tight enough. Never thought I would love a synthetic girth!

I use a Prestige Dressage girth on my Kentaur Eventer II. No rubbing and it cleans up very easily. http://www.doversaddlery.com/prestige-dressage-girth/p/X1-0235/?utm_source=shopz&utm_medium=CSE&utm_campaign=MerchantAdv&zmam=1460880&zmas=1&zmac=125&zmap=0000235008300X1-0235

On my Custom Ikon Star Dressage saddle (also a mono flap), I use a synthetic fleece dressage girth or a Wintec waffle weave neoprene dressage girth. The Wintec I’ve had for years, and cleans up a lot easier than the fleece. They’re a great value I think but no, they are not fancy.

Very late reply to this thread, but a quick thanks for all the recommendations. Bought the Ovation Airform and love it! My very very girthy mare also seems to really like it - didn’t bat an eye for tightening.

Thanks!

I just picked up a mohair girth from Riding Warehouse. Took me a while to give in but I was finally persuaded when I realized my horse was allergic to neoprene.

Mine has held up well for 3 years now. But I do probably clean it every day (used on about 2 horses a day)…but I do know they changed the design a bit and I think I like the older one a bit better.

I just ordered a mono flap saddle from Stubben today! My first new English saddle.I tried about 8 different Stubben saddles and was shocked when I picked this one. Great, now I get to order 3 new girth so,too.
They have a lovely padded leather girth but at the price,I’m going with some neoprene ones. Probably Professional Choice since they come in brown.

I had one with a neoprene allergy back in the early 1990s.
I love neoprene girths, they’ve saved me a few times when I didn’t check my girth.

I have a Vespucci brown padded leather girth. I also have a Wintec and a Professional Choice sheepskin one. I have to use the sheepskin one on my sensitive boy who gets rubs from every other material.
