As part of a journalism project I have been trying to flesh out the full story of the collapse of the “World Ride” https://web.archive.org/web/20140111101522/http://theworldride.org/ . This was to be the magnum opus of Cuchullaine and Basha O’Reilly, founders of the Long Riders Guild. Cuchullaine’s public writings about the World Ride raise many basic questions about planning and conditioning before a long ride. And around the world is about as long as you can ride. There are questions about horse abuse by a trusted trainer leading to the cancellation of the ride and the production of two rather bizarre videos explaining the failure and passing the blame to an anonymous individual and an entire school of horse training, Natural Horsemanship.
